Introduction to Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Publisher is a desktop publishing software used for creating professional-looking


documents such as brochures, flyers, business cards, newsletters, and posters. Unlike Microsoft
Word, which focuses on text processing, Publisher is designed for page layout and design.

Features of Microsoft Publisher

 Pre-designed templates for quick project creation.


 Easy-to-use tools for inserting and formatting text, images, and shapes.
 Ability to create multi-page publications.
 Supports high-resolution printing for professional-quality output.

Microsoft Publisher Interface

1. Title Bar – Displays the file name and program name.


2. Ribbon – Contains tabs with tools for designing and editing publications.
3. Page Navigation Pane – Shows all pages in the document, allowing easy navigation.
4. Workspace – The main area where you design your publication.
5. Rulers and Guides – Help with alignment and precise positioning of objects.

Creating a New Publication

1. Open Microsoft Publisher.


2. Choose a template or select Blank Document.
3. Click Create to start a new project.

Working with Text

 Click Insert > Draw Text Box to add text.


 Click inside the text box and type your content.

 Click File > Save As, choose a location, and save the file in .pub format.
