5E’s Lesson Plan in Science 4

Content standard: Magnets affect objects and materials without touching them.
Performance standard: learners use simple equipment and process to measure and record data
related to movement and describe ang predict the way things around them move using more
scientifically technical language and concept, such as speed and force. They demonstrate an
understanding that science processes are used to gain a deeper understanding about forces that
cannot seen directly, including the properties of magnets.

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to achieve the following behavior:
a. Identify magnetic and nonmagnetic materials.
b. Determine the importance of magnets; and
c. Write objects that are magnetic and nonmagnetic.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: The Magnet
Materials: PowerPoint Presentation, tarp paper, marker, magnet,
References: MELCS S4FE-llld-e-3
III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Energizer

4. Classroom Management

5. Checking attendance
6. Review
The teacher will review the past lesson by asking the following questions.
B. Developmental Activities

7. Establishing a purpose for the lesson (Engage)

(Sing a song Magnet song)

Direction: Answer the following question. Raise your right

hand if you want to answer.

1. What is the title of a song?

2. do you remember the objects mentioned in the song? What are those?
3. What will happen when the objects are near in the magnet?

The teacher will be going to ask this following questions.

1. Have you ever seen a magnet or played it?

2. Did you enjoy playing magnet? Why?

The teacher will be going to present some examples of real magnet and some objects to demonstrate
how the magnet works to attract the objects.

Presenting Pictures for more examples.

8. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 Explore

Group Activity
The teacher will be going to divide the students into 2 groups. Direction: Find objects that
are magnetic and nonmagnetic found inside the classroom and list down those objects in
each chart. Each group must have 1 representative to report their works in front.

9. Developing mastery (leads to Formative

Assessment 3) Explain

Direction: answer the following questions

1. What are the characteristics of materials that are magnetic?
2. How about nonmagnetic materials? What are they made of?

Magnetic materials

Nonmagnetic materials

Several types of Magnets

Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living.

The teacher will be going to ask another example for important
uses of magnet in daily living. Ask students about things that uses
magnet.

10. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson

(ELABORATE)

1. Magnets have invisible magnetic field.

2. Magnet will attract all metals.
3. It is one of the fundamental forces in nature and are incredibly important.
4. metals made of iron, cobalt, and nickel are not attracted by a magnet.
5. Objects that are made of gold and silver can be attracted by a magnet.
What are the several types of magnets?
How did you know if that Object is magnetic or nonmagnetic?

IV. Evaluation
Direction: Determine if the materials in the pictures are magnetic or nonmagnetic. Write
your answer in your Science notebook.
