Course Learning Outcomes

At the successful completion of the Computing for Business, Science and Design course
you should be able to:

1 Identify and evaluate the influence and role of emerging technologies

2 Develop a range of documents using appropriate tools and methodologies in
accordance with academic requirements
3 Solve problems using appropriate tools and methodologies
4 Visually represent data using appropriate tools and methodologies
5 Extract and manipulate data to specific requirements

Approaches to Learning and Teaching

Your learning will be delivered through lectures and tutorials. There will be six lectures
each term providing the theoretical content that you will explore further in the tutorial
sessions. You will be required to engage with online learning activities to support the
fundamentals presented in the lectures.
Tutorials will be hands-on sessions with a student-centred approach. Activities will
provide authentic learning experiences with real-world scenarios that align with the
expectations at university. You are expected to refer to the schedule frequently and
ensure that you have completed all work that has been set (usually the by following
week).

The course will prepare you for university. You will be expected to actively participate
and engage with a variety of learning experiences that will introduce you to the different
learning approaches taken at university. These will include online collaborative learning
and online extension challenges to consolidate skills and knowledge acquired in tutorials.
You will be working independently as well as collaboratively and will need to adopt a
problem-solving approach to your learning. Your teachers will facilitate your learning.
You will be able to evaluate your progress in each tutorial. Weekly consultations will
provide you with support and feedback, and you will be encouraged to revise skills
independently.
