Objective:
By the end of this lesson, students will understand the differences between the simple past
and past progressive and how to use them correctly in sentences and conversations.
A. Simple Past
• Often used with time expressions like yesterday, last week, two days ago, in
2010, etc.
• Examples:
Used for actions that were happening at a specific moment in the past.
• Often used with while, when, as, at that moment, at 5 PM, etc.
• Examples:
• Yesterday
• Last night
Last week
• In 2010
• At 7 PM

• Regular verbs:
• Walk → walked
• Play → played
• Study → studied
• Cook → cooked
• Irregular verbs:
