asked to do so.

3. If P(X) = 3X 2 - 2X + 5 then find P (1)
ANS: P(1) = 3 (1)2 – 2(1) +5 = 3 – 2 +5 = 6

Draw a circle of 3cm radius and O as its centre.
From the centre, mark OP = 7cm.
Draw a perpendicular bisector of the line OP such that it meets at M.
Draw a circle with radius OM and cut the circle at Q and R.
Joint PR and PQ.
Hence, PR and PQ are tangents.
19. Consider the polynomial p(x)=x2−9 x−k

b) What is the value of k if x−10 is a factor of p(x) ?
c) Write p(x) as the product of two first degree polynomials if one of its factor is

b) When the solid is divided by two equal parts along the diameter we can
see a triangle and its incircle. Perimeter of the triangle 13 + 13 + 10 =
36cm s = 18.
Area of triangle = 1/2 × 10 × 12 = 60sq.cm
r = A/s = 60/18 = 10/3 cm
c) Volume of sphere = 4/3 × π × ( 10/3 ) 3 = 4000π/81 cubic cm

4000π/81 ÷ 100π = 40/81 part .
30. Consider the numbers (1, 2),(5, 7)
a. What is the slope of the line passing through these points ?

a) Slope = (y2−y1)/( x2−x1) = (7−2)/( 5−1) = 5/4
b) Let(x, y) be a point on the line. Take (x, y) and (1, 2) , (y−2)/( x−1) = 5/ 4 , (y −
2) × 4 = (x − 1) × 5, 5x − 4y + 3 = 0
c) When the line cut x axis , y = 0. 5x − 4 × 0 + 3 = 0, 5x = −3, x = −3 /5 .
The point is ( −3/ 5 , 0)
d) When the line cut y axis , x = 0. 5 × 0 − 4y + 3 = 0, −4y = −3, y = −3 /−4 = 3/ 4
