Blockchain Lab 00-Introduction to Blockchain Explorers and MetaMask Wallet
Blockchain Lab 00-Introduction to Blockchain Explorers and MetaMask Wallet
• Objective:
i. This lab introduces students to blockchain technology by exploring blockchain
explorers and setting up a MetaMask wallet.
ii. Students will learn how to check transactions, understand block details, and interact
with blockchain networks.
o Pre_Lab :
Task 1: Exploring Bitcoin Transactions on Blockchair:
i. Visit www.blockchair.com.
ii. Search for a recent Bitcoin transaction by entering a transaction ID (TXID).
a. Block height
b. Transaction fee

c. Number of confirmations
Block 888,247 The number of the block that contains this transaction,
Height indicating its position in the blockchain
Transaction 0.00000173 BTC (≈ 0.14 USD) The fee paid to miners to include the transaction in a block;
Fee it depends on network congestion and confirmation speed.

2. Explore the Bitcoin network map to view active Bitcoin nodes worldwide.
3. Identify:
o The geographical distribution of nodes (countries with the highest node count)
1. Visit https://www.crypto51.app.
2. Explore the data on 51% attack vulnerabilities for different blockchains.
3. Identify and record the following details for at least one blockchain:
o Estimated cost of a 51% attack for 1 hour
o Network hashrate
o Security level (low, medium, high, or vulnerable)
4. Record your findings.
