Perception is the process of assessing information in your surroundings. It involves
becoming aware of one's environment in a way that is unique to the individual and is
strongly influence by communication.
Perception is a process by which individuals organize and interpret their sensory
impressions to give meaning to their environment.
Selective perception is the process by which people filter out irrelevant or less significant
information so that they can deal with the most important matters.
Self-perceptions influence how we talk about ourselves with others. If we feel good about
ourselves, we are likely to communicate positively. For instance, people with a strong
self-concept and higher self-esteem usually take credit for their successes.
Perceptions moderate how we talk to ourselves. Self-talk is the internal conversations we
have with ourselves. A lot of these conversations are also about us. People who have high
self-esteem are more likely to engage in positive self-talk.
Self-perceptions affect communication apprehension. Perhaps one the most unfortunate
consequences of a poor self-concept and low self-esteem is a heightened level of
communication apprehension.
Perception helps to increase the confidence. Like we take a note of surroundings and
people around us and we know that what we are dealing with. This helps in the fluency in
talking.
Perception allows a person to think differently in some difficult situations. Because by
perception we gather much knowledge to get out of that argument or debate without any
hesitation.
Perception helps in developing good way to interact with the audience, it is because we
have already estimated the potential of them. It allows you to surpass other
communicators in competition.
Perception allows person to think positively. Sometimes there are moments in which
some communicators find no way rather than pointing negative thoughts of theirs but a
person with perception can find an easy way out only by pointing positive ideas.
