Lesson 27 – Vocabulary

These are all liquid verbs. Learn their present form AND their future and aorist forms.

Present Future Aorist English

ἀπαγγελλω ἀπαγγελεω ἀπηγγειλα I report, announce

παραγγελλω (+ dat.) παραγγελεω παρηγγειλα I order

αἰρω ἀρεω ἠρα I take away, lift up

ἀποκτεινω ἀποκτενεω ἀπεκτεινα I kill

ἐγειρω ἐγερεω ἠγειρα I raise up, wake

κρινω κρινεω ἐκρινα I judge, decide

μενω μενεω ἐμεινα I remain, stay

ὀφειλω Do not occur in New Testament I owe, ought

σπειρω σπερεω ἐσπειρα I sow

χαιρω Do not occur in New Testament I rejoice

One liquid verb you already know, but now with its future/aorist forms:

ἀποστελλω ἀποστελεω ἀπεστειλα I send

And a few liquid verbs that are also second aorists (imperfect endings):

ἀποθνῃσκω ἀποθανεομαι ἀπεθανον I die

βαλλω βαλεω ἐβαλον I throw

λαμβανω ληψομαι ἐλαβον I take/receive

And one common word related to εἰδον:

ἰδου Look! Behold!
