Application for membership / probationary membership / membership renewal

Dear prospective member,

In accordance with Home Office regulations, we must ask you to declare that you are not
prohibited from membership of a shooting club or the possession of firearms /
ammunition as dictated by the 1986 Firearms Act (as amended). If you have had a
firearms or shotgun certificate revoked, or an application for such a certificate refused,
this is not necessarily a disqualification from shooting although this information has to be
disclosed upon application. You should also be aware that the 1997 Firearms
Amendment Act obliges CURPC to inform the police of the name and address of anyone
who applies for membership. We would be grateful if you could ask your tutor to
complete the bottom section of this form to confirm your studentship.

Section 21 of the 1968 Firearms Act (as amended), states that you may not
at any time have (this means in practice fire a firearm in a club situation) a
firearm or ammunition in your possession if: (i) you have ever been
sentenced to preventative detention, or imprisonment or to corrective
training for a term of three years or more, or (ii) have been in borstal
training, corrective training for less than three years, or in prison for a term
of between three months and three years, and are within five years of your
release.

NOTE: Any member may have his / her membership terminated at any time for misuse of
the club, its furnishings and equipment or for shooting at objects other than official
targets. The club committee reserves the right to refuse membership or renewal and is
under no obligation to give reasons, nor do applicants have the right of appeal.

defined by the Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 (as amended), that I agree to abide
by the club rules, and that I consent under the 1998 Data Protection Act to CURPC
storing information about me for its register of members, match results and accounts.
