Karl Marx (May 5, 1818 – March 14, 1883) – Is a German philosopher, political theorist,
economist, historian, sociologist, journalist and revolutionary socialist.
Friedrich Engels (November 28, 1820 – August 5, 1895) – Is a German philosopher, political
theorist, economist, historian, sociologist, journalist and revolutionary socialist he was also a
businessman.
WHAT IS MARXISM?
Karl Marx, along with his collaborator Friedrich Engels, developed the philosophical theory of
Marxism in the 19th century. Marxism seeks to understand and address the inequalities and
conflicts inherent in capitalist societies. It focuses on the battle between the working class and
the ownership class, communism, and socialism over capitalism. Marxism also had a profound
influence on various fields, including economics, politics, sociology, and history, and has been

MARXISM CLASS DIVISION
Marxism believed that society is divided into 2 groups:
bourgeoisie (known as business owners or political elites) and
proletariat (or working class).

Marxists are the people who believe in the philosophy of Marxism, which says that the
proletariat is abused by the bourgeoise due to the capability of capitalists to provide factories,
materials, and money to produce goods; also, the owner class exploits working class by paying
them a small amount and alienating to their working place.

ideologies. Some of the most notable include:
