Let Us Enhance
In previous modules, you’ve learned how to construct and how to use your
own clinometer to measure the angle of elevation and angle of depression and
identifying the height of tall things that is out of your reach. For the activity below,
just follow the instructions for you to be guided.

Activity 5: Construct Me!

A clinometer is a tool that is used to measure the angle of

elevation, or angle from the ground, in a right - angled triangle. You
can use a clinometer to measure the height of tall things that you can't
possibly reach to the top of, flag poles, buildings, trees.

Task to do:
1. Using your self-made clinometer, look at least two tall objects that you
can see in your surroundings and measure the angle of elevation per
object.
2. Attach a picture where you are currently measuring the two objects and
paste it in a long bond paper.

3. Create your own word problem with complete label and measurements
and choose for your unknown value.
4. Show your solutions by following the IGAFS steps.
5. You will be scored based on the rubrics given.

tan 400 = sin 400 = elevation, therefore I will use
𝟏𝟒.𝟔 𝒙
the sine ratio which is opposite
x = 14.6 (tan 400) 𝟏𝟒.𝟔 over hypotenuse and solve for

sin 400
solution, x is equal to 22.7
x = 12. 3 m
x = 22.7 m meters.
∴ The length of the bamboo ∴ The length of the bamboo
pole is 12.3 m. pole is 22.7 m.
