Quick Guide – How to open images (MAC)

Use of the embedded viewer


To display images with the embedded viewer, please follow those few steps.

Double click on the “viewer-mac” icon. The program will be opened and the images displayed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If it is the first time you use this program, you may need further steps, such as
installing Java or authorizing this application to be launched.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have to open examinations with many images (scanner, MRI,
mammographies,…) image display will be much faster if you copy the “viewer-mac” app on your hard
disk before opening it.

Installing Java
If Java isn’t installed on your Mac, you have to install it. The following message will appear and the app
won’t launch. The next steps only have to made once.

To download Java, go to www.java.com. The download section is at the top of the page. Once the
download is finished, double click on the installer file in the Finder.

You may see the following message appear. If so, be sure this message really mentions java.com and
accept it and follow the normal installation process. You will have to give an administrator password
of the Mac you’re working on.

Authorizing application
Once the installation is finished, you can re-open the viewer app. Another warning message will appear
and prevent the launch of the application.

To allow the system to launch the viewer, go to the system preferences (Apple Menu on the top left,
then System Preferences) and click tab “Security and confidentiality” on the top-right of the system
preference window.

Now, allow the system to open the viewer-app by clicking on “open anyway”.

A last message appears: click OK, give the password administrator of the Mac, then the viewer-app
opens.
