SPA Tips and Tricks When Installing Sage Pastel
installation errors.
These are the hardware and operating system software requirements for the system:
HARDWARE
RAM
SCREEN RESOLUTION
OPERATING SYSTEM
There are certain files that will not install or will not install correctly if you are not logged in as the
machines local Administrator.
Windows 7
Right-click in the bottom left corner of your screen, click on Control Panel.
If you are unsure if you are the local administrator please contact your IT consultant or Network
Administrator.
Before installing Sage Pastel Accounting please ensure that the User Account Control or UAC is
turned off as some of the features for Sage Pastel Accounting do not function properly if the User
Account Control is on.
Refer to the document ‘How to Turn off the User Account Control – Windows Vista to Windows
10’ with detailed steps on how to turn off the UAC.
Please ensure that your machines is using the latest Windows Updates for the version of Windows
you are running.
You should see a message advising you ‘Windows is up to date’ or similar depending on
the version of Windows you are running.
If you do not have SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 or higher installed you can manually
install SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 or higher however this is not necessary as the Sage
Pastel Accounting installation will verify if you have SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 or
higher if not it will install the SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 during the installation.
Should you receive any errors with regards to the SQL Server Compact you will need to
manually upgrade or SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 or higher. If you are unsure how to do
this please contact your IT Technician for assistance.
Ensure the downloaded file is the correct size
Please ensure if the downloaded file is a .zip file that you extract the file before you attempt
to run the installation
Should you receive errors during the installation please turn off you anti-virus and Windows
Firewall.
The Anti-virus or Windows Firewall could be blocking files needed to run the installation and turning
them off should allow the necessary access.
Please ensure you contact your IT consultant or Network Administrator before you turn these
features off.
Please ensure after the installation you re-enable the anti-virus and Windows Firewall.
