Organisation Active Care Network

Role Client Support

Location Across Blacktown LGA


(Active Care Network’s office is located on Bessemer Street,
Blacktown)

Frequency Shifts are available Monday to Saturday. We ask our volunteers to


sign up for a weekly shift.

More details Support our Community Transport Drivers, providing assistance to


clients and their carers when they use our transport services, at
venues and in other appropriate circumstances (for example full day
social outings).

We support a broad range of Clients including:


• Frail aged people
• People with disabilities
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• Children of all ages
• People from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
backgrounds

Key tasks:
• Ensure that clients travel comfortably and safely between
destinations
• Ensure seat belt and restraint systems are properly fitted and well
maintained
• Assist with shopping/luggage when necessary
• Assist clients on/off bus and safely to their destinations

We expect volunteers to:


• Treat all clients with dignity and respect
• Understand the need for confidentiality of passengers’ situations
and information
• Be prepared to support the passenger from residence to vehicle
and from vehicle to appointment location if necessary, by offering
a hand or an arm to lean on. In some circumstances it may be
necessary to push a client in a wheelchair
• Promote the image of Active Care Network in a positive manner
• Receive direction from relevant members of staff as delegated
• Perform other duties which may be requested, including assisting
on bus, attending outings, shopping trips, assisting in promotional
ventures
• Take part in training programs as applicable.

Desirable • Experience supporting older Australians and people living with
experience/skills disabilities.
• Compassion, tolerance and a willingness to work with people
from a variety of cultures, people with disabilities, elderly people
and other members of the community
• Well-developed customer service and communication skills
• Capacity to interpret and work within the organisation’s policies
and procedural guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to operate professionally with limited
supervision.
