Excel Charts – a quick way to create a graphic representation of your worksheet data. Charts are
visually appealing and can make it easier for users to interpret data.
Getting Started
You may choose to find either the Top Speed statistic for each roller coaster OR the Height
statistic for each roller coaster.

Creating a Spreadsheet
A. Open Six Flags New from your OneDrive.
B. Add your Name and Period in cells B1 and B2.

Creating a Graph
A. Select the block of cells A7:B16.
B. Click on the Insert tab, choose the Pie Icon in the Charts group.
C. Select the first 2-D Pie
D. In the Design Tab, choose Move Chart (all the way on the right side)
E. Click New Sheet, and name it Pie Chart.

F. A new tab will appear named Pie Chart

G. Change the Title of your chart to Height of Roller Coasters.
H. Click the Design Tab:
a. Choose Add Chart Elements.
b. Choose Legend. Choose Show legend at left.
c. Choose Data Labels. Choose Outside End.
I. View your new Chart.
Create 3 more graphs of your choice from your spreadsheet.
1. Click on Sheet 1 and repeat steps A through H (but do not select pie chart).
2. Choose two graphs that you think are a good representation of your data, and one that is not a
good representation of your data. Follow all directions on screen for each graph. You will end up
with 4 graphs.
3. Make sure ALL graphs have the correct title and ALL ride names are visible.
4. In bar, column and line graphs use the Design Tab/Axis Titles to label the x axis and y axis
appropriately.
Experiment with each type. You will end up with 4 different sheet tabs in your Microsoft Excel
workbook. Rename each sheet tab according to the type of chart you choose (To rename, right click
on a sheet tab and choose rename or double-click the sheet tab name). Save often.

Go to the Discussion Question on Canvas and analyze your data

by answering the questions. This will be graded!!
