Curling up with a good book is one of my greatest pleasures. A comfy reading chair is even better with a lap blanket
that could also wrap around my shoulders if there's a chill in the air. Cuddy's simple mosaic motif forms rectangles,
triangles, and diamonds depending upon color placement. I used six colors from light to dark to explore differences in
contrast. Full written instructions also include charts.

GAUGE
Adventurous Beginner: For crocheters who are ready to learn some new
skills or stitch combinations. This pattern uses basic mosaic crochet
techniques, such as working into front loops of stitches on previous rows.

SPECIAL STITCHES
Foundation Single Crochet [FSC]: Ch 2, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, *yo and pull up lp, yo and pull
through 1 lp [ch made], yo and pull through 2 lps [FSC made], insert hook in ch of previous FSC, rep from *
until you have required number of sts.
• The multicolor sample shawl used approximately 1,520 yds / 1,390 m in total: Color A) 233 yds /
213 m, Color B) 326 yds / 298 m, Color C) 201 yds / 184 m, Color D) 213 yds / 195 m, Color E)
310 yds / 283.5 m, and Color F) 237 yds / 216.5 m.
• The two-color sample shawl used approximately 2,036 yds / 1,862 m in total: Color A) 1,042 yds /
953 m and Color B) 994 yds / 909 m.
• Carry unused color up side of work during color transitions.
• Gauge is not crucial to this project, but will affect yardage and size.
• Pattern uses six colors, but can be made with a minimum of two colors. In Version 2, there are four
chart repeats across and 16 sections total.
• "Current row" refers to the row currently in progress. "Working row" refers to the row you are
working the current row into.
• The written instructions are augmented by a chart of the mosaic stitch pattern.

Version 1 - Row 1 (RS): With Color A, work 129 next st on working row, sk next st on working
FSC. (Alternatively, ch 130, sc in second ch row, sc in last st.

FINISHING
Weave in all yarn tails using a tapestry needle. Soak for 20 minutes in lukewarm water, and press out
the excess moisture with a towel. Lay at, pin to shape, and allow to dry. Enjoy!
