The document outlines various geometric calculations including the total surface area (TSA), curved surface area (CSA), and volume of cylinders, cuboids, and cubes. It also compares the surface areas and volumes of different shapes, evaluates designs for a podium, and calculates water flow in a trench and a cylindrical pipe. Additionally, it presents a competition scenario between two artists based on material usage and surface area of their sculptures.

1. Write the formulae of TSA, CSA, and volume of a cylinder.
Referring the same, calculate all three
for a cylinder of radius 7cm, and height of 10cm. 2. Write the formulae of TSA, LSA, and volume of a cuboid. Referring the same, calculate all three for a cuboid of dimensions 3m x 7m x 12m. 3. Write the formulae of TSA, LSA, and volume of a cube. Referring the same, calculate all three for a cube of side 9cm. 4. A cube of side 6cm and a cuboid of dimensions 3cm x 4cm x 12cm are being geometrically compared. Check which shape has greater surface area? Also compare the volumes. 5. An podium of 2m heigh is to be made. An engineer provides two designs, one is cubical, another cylindrical with base diameter 2.1m. You must decide on which design would require minimum material to fill in. Also check which has got greater surface area. 6. A cylindrical pipe of radius 7cm is connected to a pump which results in the speed of water at 10m per second. Calculate the volume of water collected in 1 minute. Also calculate the volume of water collected in 5 minutes. 7. A rectangular cross-section trench of width 4m and depth 1m is made to direct the flood water back to river. The flooded water is flowing in the trench at a speed of 5m per second. Calculate the volume of water exits the trench in 1 hour. 8. Two art sculptures were made by two artists for a competition. Artist-A made the carvings on the bark of a cylindrical tree stump of diameter 56cm and height of 1m mounted on a cubical platform of side 1m. While Artist-B engraved on a cuboidal stone of dimensions 50cm x 50cm x 1m mounted on a cube of side 1m. As a judge you must look into given criteria to choose a winner. Calculate and answer the following questions. a. Total volume/material usage must be low. Calculate and find out. b. The surface area of sculpture (excluding mounting platform) must be high.
