of 20 Hz.
(ii) With the help of a diagram, explain how the human ear works.
e. With the help of an activity, demonstrate how metal is deposited at the
cathode by electrolysis.

SECTION E
Q7. Assertion and reasoning questions:
DIRECTIONS for the question : In each of the questions given below, there are
two statements marked as Assertion (A) and the Reason (R). Mark your answer
as per the codes provided below.
(a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
(b) Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.
(c) A is true but R is false.
(d) A is false but R is true.

(i) Assertion (A): Seed drill and hoe are the agricultural implements.
Reason (R): Agricultural practices are done by using tools.
(ii) Assertion (A): Pressure exerted by liquids is not the same at all levels.
Reason (R): Liquid pressure is measured using a barometer.

(iii) Assertion (A): Loudness of sound depends on its amplitude

Reason (R):When amplitude of vibration is large, the sound produced is
loud. When amplitude is small, the sound produced is feeble.

(iv) Assertion (A): Lightning strikes can destroy life and property.
Reason (R): Lightning conductors can protect buildings.

SECTION F

Q8. Case Studyquestions:

During the development of a thunderstorm, the air currents move upward while
the water droplets move downward. These vigorous movements cause
separation of charges. By a process, not yet completely understood, the positive
charges collect near the upper edges of the clouds and the negative charges
accumulate near the lower edges. There is accumulation of positive charges near
the ground also. When the magnitude of the accumulated charges becomes very
large, the air which is normally a poor conductor of electricity is no longer able to
resist their flow. Negative and positive charges meet, producing streaks of bright
light and sound. We see streaks as lightning. The process is called an electric
discharge.
i) How the charges are accumulated in the clouds?
ii) How the charges from the clouds come down to earth?
iii) What is an electric discharge?
iv) Lightning is followed by a loud boom called ___________.
