1. Course Description:
This course introduces the fundamental principles and techniques of Quality Control (QC) used in
manufacturing and service industries. It covers topics such as statistical process control (SPC),
control charts, process capability analysis, acceptance sampling, and continuous improvement
methodologies like Six Sigma and Total Quality Management (TQM). Students will learn how to
apply quality tools to monitor, analyse, and improve processes, ensuring product and service
excellence. The course also emphasizes the role of quality standards (ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean,
etc.) in achieving customer satisfaction and business success
2. Course Objectives:

1. To explain the basic concepts, principles, and importance of quality control in

manufacturing and service industries.
2. To use statistical tools such as control charts, process capability analysis, and sampling
techniques to monitor and improve product and process quality.
3. To Differentiate between common and special causes of variation and implement
corrective actions to maintain quality standards.
4. To Apply problem-solving tools such as Pareto analysis, Fishbone diagrams, and Failure
Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for defect prevention and continuous improvement.
5. To introduce international quality standards (ISO 9001, Six Sigma, TQM) to improve
overall product quality and customer satisfaction.
