a. Identify the stages of Water cycle;
b. Describe the process in every stage of Water cycle;
c. Appreciate the important role of Water cycle in our life.
II. Subject Matter:

a. Prayer/Greetings
Everybody stands, let us pray.
Lorena, kindly lead the prayer.
Lorena: Amen…
Amen.
Good morning, class!
All: Good morning teacher Jecel!

Before you take your seats, kindly

pick up the pieces of paper around
you and arrange your chairs
properly. …….
Okay, you can take your seats now.

How are you today class? All: We’re good, teacher.

That’s nice to hear.

b. Checking of attendance
Who is absent from the class?
Class beadle? Do you check the
attendance? Class beadle: Nobody is absent, teacher.

Very good, you are perfect

attendance.
c. Classroom Management
Now, I want you to be reminded of
our classroom agreement so that we
will have a smooth and interactive
class.
This agreement stands for
“WATER”.
Where:
W- welcome and respect each other
A- Actively listen and follow
directions
T- take responsibility for your
actions and belongings
E- engage in learning and ask
questions
R- raise your hand and wait to be
called upon

Are this agreement clear to you

class?
All: Yes, teacher.
A. ELICIT
This time let’s do an activity called
“Word scramble”

Are you familiar with this game All: Yes, teacher.

gathered?

Very good!

B. ENGAGE
(The teacher will show the globe
and will explain the following to
the class)

Do you know what is this class?

Students: A globe, teacher.
Okay, this is a globe. Do you know
that 71% of the earth surface is
filled with water and 29% of the
earth is covered with land.
Therefore, water covers a wider
area of the earth surface than land.

Do you think the amount of water

on earth decrease since its
existence?
Who says no? and who says yes? Students: Answers may vary.

Okay, so the amount of water in

earth does not change. It remains
the same.

When do you use water? Students: I use water every day in taking bath,
washing, watering the plants, laundering,
drinking, cooking and many more, teacher.

Very good.
We use water every day, we cannot
survive without water, am I right?
Students: Yes, teacher.
Now, do you have any idea what
was our topic today?
Students: Answers may vary.
You have an idea!

Okay, today we will tackle about

water cycle.
But before that please all read our
learning objectives today. Students: Read the following objectives.
C. EXPLORE
At this point, we will have an activity
called “The Water’s Journey”. I have
here a set of cards I want you to pick
one, that card will determine what
group you are.
Group 1: Team Sun
Group 2: Team Cloud
Group 3: Team Rain
Group 4: Team Sea

I will be giving you a diagram showing

the process of water cycle. Each group
will be given an envelope with pictures
and a word bank, you will use the word
bank to label the pictures involves in
the water cycle. After that select 1
representative to explain your task.

Do you have any question? Or

clarification?
All: None, teacher.

For you to be guided with our activity.

Before you start let me first present you
our rubrics, you will be graded
according to this rubric.

D. EXPLAIN
(Presentation of group output.
Additional input will be given by
the teacher through PowerPoint
Presentation)

So, have you ever wondered why

the earth’s water never seem to run
out of supply? Have you wondered
where the rain comes from? Or how
the clouds are formed?
Do you have any idea? (Student answers may vary)

Well, this is what water cycle is all

about.
Now question, what is water cycle? Student: Water cycle is the continuous
movement of water on, above and below the
Very good! When we say surface of the earth.
continuous, it means it repeats over
and over again that’s why water
supply never run out because it is
recycled.

Okay, how does this cycle work?

Let us begin in the process of
evaporation.
What do you think will happen
during evaporation? Student: It is when the sun heats up the water
from oceans, lakes, and rivers and changes into
water vapor.

Very good! What is water vapor? Student: Water vapor is a form of gas resulting
from heating.
Very good!

Now, let’ try and explain this using

an example. When a person leaves
their wet clothes to air dry, the
water from the clothes evaporates
slowly as the temperature around
the clothes changes. This
evaporation is a form of water
vapor. The water becomes absorbed
in the air which leaves the clothes
dry.
Students: Yes, teacher.
So, is it clear now?

Okay, after the water vapor rises up, Student: As the water rises up into the air, it
what do you think will happen starts cooling down and forms tiny water
next? droplets. These water droplets come together to
form clouds. This process is called
condensation.

Excellent! Clouds are made up of

tiny water droplets. So, when
condensation occurs, clouds form.
That is how clouds are formed.
Students: Yes, teacher.
Is it clear?

Then what happen next? Student: When the clouds start getting heavy
and cannot hold the water droplets anymore,
they fall back to the earth in the form of rain,
snow, or hail. This process is called
precipitation.
Exactly! Precipitation comes in
several forms. We have rain, snow
and hail.

What is the difference between

them? Students: Rain is water in liquid form.

Snow is water vapor that changes directly from

a gas to a solid, it does not go through a liquid
phase. Snow forms as tiny crystals. Depending
on the temperature at which it forms, it may
look like a star, a plate or a needle.

Hail is water that gets caught in strong upward

moving winds. The water will freeze, then start

clouds start to get heavy that it
cannot hold the droplets anymore
and falls on earth as rain, snow, or
hail.

Is it clear?
Students: Yes, teacher.
Then, if water falls on earth, some
of the water seeps into the ground.
This water is available to us in the
form of groundwater.

So, what process comes next?

Student: Collection, teacher. The water that is

being collected in the oceans, lakes, rivers, and
That’s right! Oceans, lakes, rivers seas.
and seas collect water that has
fallen through the process of
collection.

Then, the water evaporates into the

sky again and the cycle continues.
So, this process repeats over and
over again. That is why we never
run out of supply of water.

Now, do you think water cycle

important?
Student: answer may vary.
Water cycle is important. As what I
have mentioned earlier, without
water cycle, we would run out of
water. And what would happen if
we run out of water?
Student: answer may vary.
Yes, plants will die, animals will die
and us also will die.

Is it understood?
All: Yes, teacher.
All of these processes sustain life
and create the ecosystems around
us. Water is one of the most
important components of any
ecosystem. All living organisms
need water to grow and survive.
E. ELABORATE
Since you already know what is
water cycle and its stages. The same
with your group I want you to do a
role play or an act on how the
stages of water cycle occur.

Am I clear? All: Yes, teacher.

I will give you 3 minutes to
prepare. Start now.
F. EXTEND
Now that you fully understand the
water cycle. Let’s have our last
activity called the “POPPING
QUEST”.

I want you to look at the back of

your cards. The one who got a
balloon according to its color will
be the one to pop a balloon here and
answer the question inside of it.
Don’t you worry because each
balloon comes with a special prize.

Let’s start!
Are you ready? Students: Yes, teacher.

POPPING QUEST

Guide questions:
1. What do you think why do we need 1. We need to conserve water in order for us to

2. What do you think will happen if 2. If water cycle has stopped the bodies of

4. What are the uses of water in our our houses for cooking, bathing, washing
life? dishes and many more.
5. What are the main stages of water 4. We can use water in so many ways like
cycle? drinking, bathing and laundering.
5. The main stages of water cycle are
evaporation, condensation, precipitation and
collection.
