Assignment 1 GA BT-Level
CLO-1: Apply different techniques to calculate the numerical solutions of linear a n d 2 C-3
non-linear algebraic/transcendental/differential equations along with error analysis.
Maximum Marks: 10 Instructor: Dr. Rai Sajjad Saif
Announcement Date: 10 March 2025 Due Date: 17th March 2025

Instructions:

1. Assignment should be handwritten.


2. Copied assignments will be marked zero.
3. CR will collect all the assignments on due date and drop at my office 309-A till 12:30pm. No assignment will
be acceptable after it.
4. Assignment is not acceptable after the deadline.
5. The assignment should be at A4 size page, presentation also contains marks (good presentation does not mean
over decoration).
6. Any student might be called on board to solve any question from assignment.
7. Do not use files and folders.
8. Perform all necessary steps otherwise marks will be deducted.

Question 1: Compute the order of convergence or rate of Regula Falsi method.


Question 2: Compute the order of convergence or rate of convergence of Secant method.
Question 3: Compute the order of convergence or rate of convergence of Newton-Raphson method.
(Note: Highlight the order of convergence for each method)
Question 4: Pick up an example and apply all the above methods on the same example to verify the order of
convergence. (Note: Example of each student must be different).
