MPLS Layer-3 VPN Lab

The document outlines an MPLS Layer-3 VPN lab designed for high-performance and reliable network connections using various routing protocols including ISIS, BGP, and OSPF. It details tasks for establishing label switched paths, creating BGP vpnv4 tunnels, and configuring VRFs for network separation. The lab includes verification steps and redistribution of routes between different protocols to ensure connectivity between PE and CE routers.

MPLS Layer-3 VPN Lab

Dear Networks,

I have created MPLS design to provide high-performance, reliable network connections with low latency
by prioritizing traffic, enabling efficient routing through dedicated paths, and minimizing the need for
complex IP routing lookups, and secure for network traffic.

This Lab includes following technologies:

• ISIS Routing Protocol

• BGP vpnv4
• VRF
• MPLS (LDP)
• Static Route, BGP Routing, OSPF routing, EIGRP routing.
• Redistribution

You can practice in your lab environment. I will share the solution, too.

Tasks

• Establish an LSP between Pes (For IGP will use ISIS Routing + LDP)
• Label Switch between PE
• Create BGP vpnv4 tunnel between Pes
• Create VRF to allocate and specify for separate network
• Exchange routes with Customer (PE-CE) (will use BGP Routing, Static Route, OSPF, EIGRP
between PE-CE)
• Redistribute between different routing protocols
• Export and Import method between PE and CE
• Verification and Task

I will assign R1, R2, R3 for the interface of e0/0 and loopback to communicate with other PE and P
routers to create bgpvpnv4 route.

Then I establish IGP for the PE and P routers to get connections with ISIS protocol (layer2- same area).

Verification from R3.

Firstly we should make to connect each other in MPLS network by one of routing protocols (OSPF) , the
reason is to get connection from R1 , R2 and R3.

Second part,

I configure MPLS enable for label table look up.

At PE side routers, will configure vrf to communicate with each CE and PE. And run IGP at R1 with R4 as
OSPF protocol, R3 with R6 as C1 as EIGRP protocol. For C2 side, R1 and R5 will activate static route and
R1 and R7 will activate BGP protocol.

Between R1 and R4 run OSPF routing.
