Procedure
INFORMATION:

The stack on a Coldfire 1 (CF1) machine contains 3 boards,


1. Processor CF1
2. Video board
3. Mocon board

The new stack with a Coldfire 2 (CF2) should contain 3 boards,


1. Processor CF2
2. Video board
3. Mocon board

Note: Using SW 14.XX, the CF2 processor board will not replace the video board and
the USB will not work.

GENERAL STEPS:
¾ Using a ground strap, remove 3 boards on stack.
¾ Install CF2 processor, video, and Mocon on stack.

TOOLS / PARTS REQUIRED:


¾ Parts
Qty 1 “93-32-4412B - MAIN PRO CFII 16MB CCA TSTD”

¾ Tools
Ground wrist strap
Phillips screwdriver

Prepare CF2 processor before installation.
1. Check the monitor size switch and set to 10 inch monitor. (See figure 1).

Install the board into the control cabinet:
1. Using the wrist strap, remove the board stack from the machine.
2. Install the Coldfire 2 processor first and connect the following cables.
A. J4 Ribbon from SKBF
B. J14 Rs-232 (control port 2) to rotary. (DNC)
C. J1 & J2, Address & Data Buss ribbon cables
D. J6 Power Cable from LVPS

3. Install the video board like it was previously with the floppy and video connected to
it.
A. J2 Video Data cable
B. P1 Power
C. J12 Floppy disk ribbon & J10 power cable
D. J4 & J5 Address & data buss ribbon cables
E. J13 - RS 232 (Control port 1) to another computer

4. Install the Mocon board and connect as it was originally.


5. Re-install everything else on the control cabinet.

Erase memory and install SW 14.XX for mills or SW 7.XX for lathes.
Note: The monitor software on the CF2 processor board will work with the SW
14.XXX used by the older machine and the video board. DO NOT CHANGE
THE MONITOR SOFTWARE.

WARNING: CHANGING THE MONITOR SOFTWARE ON THE CF2 PROCESSOR


BOARD WILL RENDER THE CF2 PROCESSOR USELESS.

6. Erase the memory and Install software 14.XX for mill or 7.XX for lathe to the CF2
processor.

7. Hold the <PRGRM/CONVRS> button while turning on the machine to see the
command line screen.
Note: While initially loading the software, the onboard USB can be used, but once
the software is running, it will not be listed in the <List Prog>, Device
Manager.

On the “>“ Prompt,


8. Type in FC, then Press <WRITE> (clears flash memory)
9. Type in M 6000000 6FFFFFF, then press <WRITE> (clears BBU Memory), press
<WRITE> again to terminate the test.
10. Insert USB stick to the CF2 USB port with latest version of 14.XX or 7.XX
11. Type in N 14.XX.bin or L7.XX.bin (ex. NM1405B6.BIN), then press <WRITE>
12. Type in UF, then press <WRITE>
13. Wait for load complete, and Remove USB.
14. Cycle power.

PROCEDURE COMPLETE
