Overview
• The Time Tracking feature is currently available for Test
Execution. Testers can estimate how much time it will take
to execute a Test Run and log the actual time spent on it.
• qTest Manager provides a report for the Rollup of time per Test
Execution to Test Suite/Cycle/Build/Release. The report also
shows the difference between Planned Time and Actual Time
spent.

IMPORTANT:
Time Tracking must be activated to start logging planned
vs actual time for test runs. This will also activate the
'Testing Velocity' report.
• To activate Time Tracking, you need 'Project
Administrator' permissions.
Follow these steps:
• Select the Gear icon, and select Time Tracking.
Change the Activation Status from OFF to ON.
• Define the below settings by filling in their
corresponding fields:

• Select Time Unit


• Specify the number of hours per working day
• Specify the number of day per working week
• When finished, select Save.

When Time Tracking feature is activated,
the following fields are visible in Test
Run's Field Settings of the project:
• Planned Time: Planned execution time
for one execution of a Test Run.
• Actual Time: Actual execution time of
one execution of a Test Run.
• Total Planned Time: Sum of Planned
Time of all Test Logs of a Test Run.
• Total Actual Time: Total actual
execution time has been spent for all
Test Logs of a Test Run.
• Average Execution Time: Total Actual
Time divided by the number of Test
Logs.

The Project Admin must activate Time Tracking
feature so you can track time spent on executing
Test Runs.
• To track time in Test Execution, follow these
steps:
• Select the Test Execution tab.
• In the Navigation Panel, select your Test Run.
• The "Test Run" page displays. Notice the
"Execution Time" section that now displays as
a result of having activated the Time
Tracking feature. In this section, input the
following:
• Total Planned Time: Sum of Planned Time of
all Test Logs of the Test Run.
• Total Actual Time: Total actual execution time
has been spent for all Test Logs of the Test
Run.
• Average Execution Time: Total Actual Time
divided by the number of Test Logs.

Track Time in the
Test Pad
To Track Time in the Test Pad, follow
these steps:
• On your Test Run page, select
the Run icon. The Test Pad displays.
• Select the Time Tracking tab. The
Planned Time you have inputted in the
Test Run is populated. You can change
the value if you wish.
• After you have executed the Test Run,
you can track the Actual Time. If you do
not input the Actual Time, the TestPad
will prompt you to do so when you save
the execution. This step can also be
skipped.

Editing Time
Tracked on a Test
Run
• For each Test Log, click the
Clock icon to see the time
which has been logged on
it.
• If you are the Project Admin
or the tester of a Test Log,
you can edit the amount of
time inputted on it.

Tips:

You can track the Planned Time and Actual


Time when doing a Quick Run.
The Planned Time and Actual Time tracked on the
latest Test Log are shown in the Test Run.
