EX-3 NETWORK Rohit

The document outlines an experiment on IPv6 Addressing Scheme for a Network System Administration course. It details the aim of configuring, verifying, and troubleshooting IPv6 addresses in a LAN/WAN environment using Cisco Packet Tracer. The document also lists common troubleshooting issues and commands for fault isolation, along with the learning outcomes from the practical exercise.

Student Name: Rohit Kumar Gupta UID: 23MCA20401

Branch: MCA Section/Group: 7 'B'

Semester: 4th Date of Performance:16-02-2025

Subject Name: Network System Administration

Subject Code: 23CAH-753

EXPERIMENT- 03
Aim/Overview of the practical: IPv6 Addressing Scheme: Addressing
requirements in a LAN/WAN environment. Configure, verify, and troubleshoot.

Apparatus: Software requirements

• Cisco Packet Tracer

Task to be done: Configuration, verification and troubleshooting.

Steps to CreateCreate a new file in Cisco Packet Tracer and drag and drop Router,
Switches and PCs in the workspace.

Connect all the devices with appropriate cables.

Step 2- Assign IP addresses of different subnets to the PCs

Do the same for all the other pc’s just keeps the gateway address same for both sides
Step 3- Set router for the networks to communicate in CLI
Step 4- Send Message from PC to PC and check its status

Learning outcomes (What I have learnt):

Troubleshooting
1. Common Issues:
• Missing IPv6 unicast-routing: Ensure ipv6 unicast-routing is enabled on
routers.
• Incorrect Prefix Length: Verify /64 subnet mask is used.
• Misconfigured Default Gateway: Ensure PCs have the correct gateway
address.
• Cable or Port Issues: Check connections and interface statuses with show
ipv6 interface brief.

2. Commands to Isolate Faults:

• debug ipv6 icmp = Check ICMPv6 packet flow
• show ipv6 neighbors = Verify neighbor discovery protocol
• show ipv6 ospf neighbor = If OSPFv3 is used

Learning Outcomes:
• Practical Knowledge of Network Design.
• Understanding Network Configurations.
