CONNETTIVI DI «SCOPO»
PER ESPRIMERE SCOPO (per, allo scopo di, così da/così che…) si usa:
• INFINITO (TO…/NOT TO….)
I went to England to improve my English.
I studied for hours not to fail the exam.
• IN ORDER TO/ IN ORDER NOT TO + FORMA BASE
I went to England in order to improve my English.
I studied for hours in order not to fail the exam.
• SO AS TO/SO AS NOT TO + FORMA BASE
I went to England so as to improve my English.
I studied for hours so as not to fail the exam.
PER ESPRIMERE SCOPO (per, allo scopo di, così da/così che…) si usa:
• SO THAT + SOGGETTO + WILL/CAN (riferimento al presente o futuro)
I’ve just given him some money so that he will/can buy something to eat.

• SO THAT + SOGGETTO + WOULD/COULD (riferimento al passato)


I gave him some money so that he would/could buy something to eat.
