* After the Entrance of the Debutante, there are no time marks and each event will be
announced by the emcees according to the pacing of the event. Only the Welcome and the
Entrance of the Debutante are the only things specifically scheduled with a time mark.
Emcee 1: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, friends and family attending from near
and far! Welcome to our wonderful home and welcome to Diane Everett’s 18th Debut.
My name is Dave Everett, the father of our lovely debutante.
Emcee 2: And I’m Marilyn Everett, the mother of the debutante, and we are your emcees
for the evening. This is a very important night for our debutante and us, her family, so we
are honoured to have everybody here. We are all here to help celebrate the wonderful life
of a girl who is now officially turning into a young lady.
Emcee 1: Everybody here, whether right, wrong, or indifferent, has watched her grow
over the years and has helped her to become the charming person she is today. So, we are
hoping that everybody has a grand time tonight with everything that my wife and our
debutante have planned for you all. Len and Diane have worked together so extensively
over the past month and a half to bring this celebration to life, and especially Diane who
poured so much of her heart into today, but tonight would not have been possible without
you all here. Hopefully, this celebration will be a blast for everyone.
Emcee 2: So true, because our debutante who worked alongside me to coordinate this
celebration would hate for tonight to be dull, so expect tonight to be a good time. And in
addition to all of the help we’ve had, we would like to acknowledge a few young faces
who have assisted with tonight’s evening so far.
Emcee 1: Let’s give a big hand to our supportive and helpful young ushers, our
debutante’s younger sister and her friends: Danielle Everett, Brooklyn Adkison,
Kathryn Chavez, Caleb Byrum, and Anizu (ah-knee-zoo) Rodriguez Marcano!
Emcee 2: Now, once again, tonight is very special for our debutante where we are
celebrating her transition into adulthood.
Emcee 1: So let’s put our hands together as we welcome the star of tonight’s show!
Ladies and gentleman, friends and family, our debutante, DIANE LYN EVERETT!
Start the countdown.
Emcee 1: What an entrance. Definitely a natural show stopper and a girl born for the
stage. Let’s give her one more huge round of applause everyone. Diane has, for sure,
gained lots of experience in many different things over her years. And with that, comes a
lot to celebrate. But we can’t celebrate on empty stomachs, right? So we will be having
dinner at this time where you will get the opportunity to dig into lots of yummy food that
we’ve cooked up for you all alongside some entertainment. And if you haven’t already,
please feel welcome to check out the programmes set at your tables so you can see what’s
up next. But at this moment before we get our meals, please join us in a prayer led by the
mother of the debutante, Marilyn Everett.
DINNER ENTERTAINMENT
18 WISHES
Emcee 1: Hopefully you all enjoyed the well-cooked meal. Very tasty. But now, we will
be continuing with our regularly scheduled programme. Let’s welcome the following
people who will share their wishes to the debutante and offer her Candles of
Enlightenment which symbolise friendship. Each person, as listed on the backside of your
programmes, will be called to the stage with a lit candle that represents the light that will
guide Diane on her journey through life. When you approach the stage, please stand in
front of Diane and tell her your wish for her into the microphone. Once you give her your
wish, you will say May your wish come true and Diane will blow out the candle. Once
she does, please politely hand her the candle. Every candle represents a year of her
existence and each one will serve as an eternal lamp that brings her an optimistic view on
the world she’s about to enter and a guiding light that gives her a sense of direction
through her future. First to the stage is…
Let’s give one final round of applause to our 18 Wishes and for their contribution.
Emcee 2: Our beautiful and stunning Diane will now blow the candles on her birthday
cake. And to complete that customary practice, let us all joyfully sing a song everybody
knows, the happy birthday song! Let’s all sing together on the count of three. 1… 2… 3!
Emcee 2: Happy Birthday, Diane! Okay, everyone, she will now be cutting her cake, and
as she does, I will call each table to come and pick up a slice of cake if they would like.
Thank you!
Emcee 2: While we are finishing our desserts, [someone] will be coming around to each
table to fill your champagne flukes with a sparkling cider of your choice for our toast to
the debutante that will be led by the father of the debutante, Dave Everett.
