WHAT WENT WRONG? UNHAPPY COMPUTER OWNERS
This week computer expert Paul Grey answers your questions about computers.
Q: I recently bought a new printer. It cost me $500. Now I see that printers cost only $300
in most stores. What did I do wrong?
A: If you had shopped around more, you would have found a good deal. If you hadn’t bought
the first printer you saw, you might have found a special offer. The next time you want to
buy electronic or computer equipment, try Eric’s Electronics or Crown Computer Stores or
search online for special offers.
Q: Last week, my children uploaded a few new games onto my very old home computer.
A little while later, while I was working on an important spreadsheet for work, my computer
crashed. What went wrong?
A: If your children hadn’t uploaded those new games onto your computer, it wouldn’t have
crashed. New games take up a lot of memory on your computer. If you had checked how
much memory the games needed, your computer wouldn’t have crashed.
Q: W hen I got my new computer, I asked a young computer student connect it to my Wi-Fi and
my printer. Now the printer isn’t working. Where did he go wrong?
A: The young student clearly didn’t know what he was doing! He would have known what to
do if he had taken a technical computer course. Maybe he is taking a computer course in
word processing! Next time, get technical advice from someone with experience.
