A. DESIGN OF STARBUCKS FF CANOPY 01
1. General Introduction
1. Design Philosophy
The purpose of this calculation is to analyse and design for Starbucks canopies and staircase
cladding steel structural supporting framing. The STAAD Model is prepared for structure and
is designed for its integrity, strength and stability verification. Ultimate forces from the staad
model are used for base connection design.
2. Unit of Measurement
Unit of measurement in design shall be in Metric system.
2. Design Criteria
Design Methodology
Identification and listing the type of canopies and supporting framing.
Extracting reaction forces with reference staad model.
Importing reaction forces onFischer/Hilty.
Physical Properties of Mild Steel:
Density, = 7850 kg/m3.
Modulus of elasticity, E = 205000 N/mm².
Coefficient of thermal expansion, e = 12 x 10-6 mm/ °C
Physical Properties of Concrete & reinforcement :
Density, = 2500 kg/m3.
Modulus of elasticity, E = 26587.2134 N/mm².
Coefficient of thermal expansion, e = 9.9 x 10-6 mm/ °C
Shear Modulus, G = 11111.38014 N/mm².
Specified Concrete Compressive Strength fc’ = 40Mpa
The reinforcement shall be high tensile deformed bars,
Type 2 confirming to BS 4449 with a minimum yield stress of 460n/mm^2.
3. Design Codes & Standards
1. Design Codes
2. Software used
The following computer software's are used to develop the structural load analysis for
both lateral and vertical loads, however, to ensure the validity and adequacy of the
analysis, more hand spot check will be performed based on basic academic procedure of
the structural analysis and the experience of the designer, all as part of quality assurance
and quality control internal plan.
