Basic Troubleshooting

This issue primarily arises when Windows fails to recognise certain printers it was previously
connected to. Some other reasons could be outdated printer drivers, broken system files, etc.
Whatever the reason, we strongly recommend you follow the methods in order.

However, before diving into the methods, let us look through some quick troubleshooting fixes
that might help the issue and why.

1) Restart the Device and the Printer – When you work on your PC, Windows, or any other
OS, handle a lot of tasks by accessing different files. A lot of these tasks can be left
unattended which can cause glitches for some devices to work. Hence, a simple restart
of the PC and the printers can clear these and come to our rescue!

2) Running the Printer Troubleshooter – The Printer Troubleshooter is a feature of Windows

that helps us recognize, scan, and repair problems with our printers.

a) Press Windows + I to open Windows Settings.

b) The Settings Window opens, click Troubleshooter.
c) Click Other Troubleshooter option.
d) Look for Printer Troubleshooter, and click Run.

If you are on Windows 10, then

a) Open Settings.
b) Find Update & Security, then Troubleshoot.
c) Go to Additional Troubleshooters.
d) Click Print Troubleshooter and then click Run the Troubleshoot.

3) Updating your Printer Driver – Updating your old driver to a current OS-compatible
version can also fix this issue. Check if you have the latest version installed. If you do not,
update it and restart the system. This should fix the issue.

How to Fix Printer error 0x00000bbb, Operation could not be completed

If your problem still persists, then it is advisable to try the following solutions one by one. Remember,
it is always advisable to follow the methods in the same order as mentioned below for hassle-free
solutions.

Solution 1 - Restart the Print Spooler Services

The main job of the Print Spooler is to manage printing. Restarting the Print Spooler is a viable option
as it will remove past glitches from its memory. You can do that by accessing the Service Manager on
your PC.

1) Press the Windows+R button to start the Run dialog box.

2) Type services.msc and press Enter.
3) Go to Print Spooler service.
4) Click Stop.

Wait for a few moments, and then implement the following.

5) Again, right click on Print Spooler and select Properties.

6) Select Automatic from the drop-down.
7) Click on Start button.

By now, the Print Spooler should have solved the issue.

Solution 2 – Add a New Port

The crux of the problem may be the fact that Windows is using a logical port to connect to printers
utilising the IP. This shouldn’t be the case, and hence we will help you add a new port with the IP
address of your printer.

1) Open Settings and go to Bluetooth & Devices.

2) Go to Printers and Scanners.
3) Select Print Server Properties from the options.
4) Go to Port Tab, and click Add Port.
5) Select Standard TCP/IP.
6) Click Next, and add the IP address of your printer.

After you have done these steps, open the Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator.
Then type in the following commands –

cd C:\Windows\System32\spool
cacls.exe PRINTERS /E /G administrator:C

After you have run the Commands, check if the issue has been resolved.

Solution 3 – Reinstalling Your Printer

If you have tried all the above-mentioned solutions and none worked, then you need to uninstall
and reinstall the printer from your Windows. For this, you must first disconnect the printer and
then uninstall its driver from your PC.

1) Press Windows+I to open Settings.

2) Click Bluetooth & Devices.
3) Click Printers & Scanners.
4) Open the printer’s properties.
5) Click Remove and further select Yes.

After removing the printer, you can now successfully delete the driver as well.

1) Press the Windows button and Search for Device Manager.

2) Look for Print queues, and then right-click on the printer.
3) Select Uninstall Device, and click Uninstall.
4) Disconnect the printer, and restart your PC.
5) Finally, set-up your printer once again.

Your system should by default detect that a new printer has been connected, and will
automatically install its driver upon your permission. This way, your error can be solved for good.
