Basic Electrical Engineering Formulas

1. Ohm's Law

-------------------

V = IR

2. Power Formulas

-------------------

DC Power:

P = VI

P = I^2 R

P = V^2 / R

AC Power:

Real Power (W) : P = VI cos(phi)

Reactive Power (VAR): Q = VI sin(phi)

Apparent Power (VA): S = VI

Power Factor: cos(phi) = P/S

3. Resistance Formulas

-------------------

Series: R_eq = R1 + R2 + R3 ...

Parallel: 1/R_eq = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 ...

Temperature Dependence: R_T = R_0 [1 + alpha (T - T_0)]

4. Kirchhoff's Laws
-------------------

KCL: Sum of currents entering a node = Sum of currents leaving

KVL: Sum of voltages in a closed loop = 0

5. Capacitance & Inductance

-------------------

C = Q/V

Energy in Capacitor: E = 1/2 C V^2

Inductor Voltage: V = L dI/dt

Energy in Inductor: E = 1/2 L I^2

6. AC Circuit Formulas

-------------------

Impedance: Z = R + jX

Reactance: X_L = 2*pi*f*L , X_C = 1/(2*pi*f*C)

Resonance: f_r = 1 / (2*pi*sqrt(LC))

7. Transformer Equations

-------------------

Turns Ratio: V1/V2 = N1/N2

Current Ratio: I1/I2 = N2/N1

Efficiency: eta = (Output Power / Input Power) * 100%

8. Thevenin's & Norton's Theorem

-------------------

V_th = Open Circuit Voltage

R_th = Equivalent Resistance seen from terminals

Norton Current: I_N = V_th / R_th

9. Electromagnetic Induction (Faraday's Law)

-------------------

e = -N * dPhi/dt

10. DC Motor & Generator Formulas

-------------------

EMF Equation: E = (PPhiZN) / (60A)

Torque: T = (PZPhiIa) / (2*pi*A)

11. Alternator (Synchronous Generator) Equations

-------------------

Synchronous Speed: N_s = (120f) / P

12. Star-Delta Transformation

-------------------

Star to Delta: R_AB = (R1 R2 + R2 R3 + R3 R1) / R1

Delta to Star: R1 = (R_AB * R_AC) / (R_AB + R_BC + R_CA)

13. Semiconductor Formulas

-------------------

Diode Current: I = I_s * (e^(V / nV_T) - 1)

Transistor Current Gain: beta = I_C / I_B
