EDC Expt 6

This lab manual outlines Experiment No. 6 for Electronics & Telecommunication students, focusing on plotting the frequency response of a Common Emitter (CE) amplifier. It details the aim, required apparatus, components, procedure, observation tables for DC and AC analysis, calculations for voltage gain, and concludes with post-lab questions. Students are expected to analyze the amplifier's performance at various frequencies and determine its bandwidth and cut-off frequencies.

Experiment No. 6

Date of performance:

1) Aim: To Plot frequency response of CE Amplifier.

2)Apparatus: Bread board, Breadboard connecting wires, Digital Multimeter, Variable DC

Power Supply, Signal Generator, Digital storage Oscilloscope.

3)Components Required: BC547A, Resistor 47KΏ,1/4 watt,15KΏ1/4 watt, 470Ώ1/4 watt,

1KΏ1/4 watt,2.2µF Electrolytic Capacitor, 100µF Electrolytic Capacitor

4)Circuit Diagram:

5) Procedure:
 Mount the circuit on breadboard without capacitor and first perform the DC Analysis.
 Measure the value of VBE, VR1, VR2, VRE VRC, VCE. Then calculate the value of IR1, IR2, IE, IB
&IC.
 Using the DC Parameter Values calculate the various hybrid-π parameters of BJT.
 Test the CRO Probe and take 100mv Peak to Peak,1Khz Sine wave signal from
signal/waveform generator.
 Now connect the Capacitors as shown in circuit diagram and apply sine wave input to
the circuit and observe the output on Digital CRO.
 Now vary the frequency of input signal and find the output voltage and gain of amplifier
for each frequency and record the reading for with and without Ce situation.
 Plot the frequency response of amplifier for with and without Ce situation on graph and
semi log paper.
 Find the Lower and Higher Cutt-Off frequency from the graph and then find the
bandwidth off amplifier as.
BW= fH – fL.

6.Observation table:
 For DC Analysis.

Sr VBE VCE VRC VR1 VR2 IC= IR1= IR2= IE= IB=IR1-IR2
No VRC/RC VR1/R1 VR2/R2 VRE/RE

 For AC Analysis.
With CE
VI=100milli-volt, Record VO and then find
Voltage gain (Pract) AV= VO/ VI
Without CE
VI=100milli-volt, Record VO and then find
Voltage gain (Pract) AV= VO/ VI

2) β = Ib
3)gm= β* rπ mhos.
4) Theoretical Voltage gain with CE
AV= β(RC||RL)/ rπ
5) Theoretical Voltage gain without CE
AV= β(RC||RL)/ rπ+(1+ ΒrE).
