Micro Project Report On

1.0 Brief Description:

An enterprise is a large-scale organization with a composite

structure. Enterprise companies often have multiple divisions, each with
its specialized function. For instance, a multinational corporation may
have a marketing department, manufacturinginfrastructure, legal team, and
resources for launching new projects.

Enterprise refers to a for-profit business started and run by an

entrepreneur. And wewill often say that people running such businesses
are enterprising. The roots of theword lie in the French word entreprendre
(from prendre), meaning „to undertake‟, which in turn comes from the
Latin “inter prehendere” (seize with the hand).

1. Types of Enterprises:-

1. Manufacturing:-

Manufacturing Enterprise means an enterprise employing plant

and machinery in processing of goods which brings into existence
a commerciallydifferent and distinct commodity and shall include
an enterprise in the production of Commercial off-the- shelf
software, but shall not include such processing as may be
specified by the State Government by an order.

Manufacturing Enterprise means an industrial undertaking or a

business concern or any other establishment, by whatever name
called, engaged in the manufacture or production of goods, in any
manner, pertaining to any industryspecified in the First Schedule
to the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951
Features of manufacturing enterprises :

 Manage daily finances, cíeate custom íepoíts and tíack job costing.
 Monitoí inventoíy of finished goods coming in and going out.
 Receive, scan in and stoíe píoducts, knowing the location of each item within
the waíehouse.
 Use quality contíol check points to ensuíe píoducts meet customeí
specifications.

2. Services:-

Service-providing enterprises are businesses that offer intangible products or

services to customers, rather than physical goods. These enterprises encompass a
wide range of industries, including but not limited to:
 Hospitality: Hotels, restaurants, bars, and catering services.
 Retail: Stores that provide services such as hairdressing, beauty
salons, and dry cleaning.
 Healthcare: Hospitals, clinics, medical practices, and allied health
services.
 Financial Services: Banks, insurance companies, investment firms, and
accounting services.
 Professional Services: Legal firms, consulting companies, advertising
agencies, and IT services providers.
 Education: Schools, colleges, universities, and tutoring services.
 Transportation: Airlines, taxis, ride-sharing services, and logistics
companies.
 Features of services enterprises :

o Intangibility: A service is not a physical product that you can

touch or see. A service can be experienced by the buyer or the
receiver. Also, you can not judge the quality of the service
before consumption.
o Inconsistency: There can be no perfect standardization of
services. Even if the service provider remains the same, the
quality of the service may differ from time to time.
o Inseparability: One unique characteristic of services is that the
service and the service provider cannot be separated. Unlike
with goods/products the manufacturing and the consumption of
services cannot be separated by storage.
o Storage: The production and consumption of services are not
inseparable because storage of services is not possible. Being an
intangible transaction there can never be an inventory of
services.
3. Trading:-

Trading enterprises are businesses that engage in the buying and selling of
goods, typically for profit. Trading businesses receive payment from customers for
merchandise purchased. Trading businesses buy and manage inventory, such as
products placed on store shelves. Trading businesses sell a variety of products,
accounting for sales through a cash register or point-of-sale system.

Here's some general information about trading enterprises:

 Types of Trading Enterprises: These can include wholesalers, retailers,
importers, exporters, distributors, and e-commerce platforms.

 Business Model: Trading enterprises acquire goods from manufacturers or

suppliers and sell them to customers at a markup. They may operate in
physical stores, online platforms, or both.

 Supply Chain Management: Effective trading enterprises manage their

supply chain to ensure a steady flow of goods, minimize costs, and
optimize inventory levels.

Types of trading enterprises:-

1. Retail trading business: This type of business sells merchandise directly to

consumers.
2. Wholesale trading business: This type of business sells merchandise to
other businesses.
3. General merchandise trading business: This type of business sells a wide
variety of products.
