1. INTRODUCTION
National Healthcare Provider Registry (NHPR) is a comprehensive repository of
registered/verified Healthcare Professionals and Health Facilities.
The Facilities (hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories and imaging centers,
pharmacies, blood banks, etc.) of both government and private sector across India.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) empowers the NHPR to onboard the
healthcare professionals and the facilities onto India’s digital health ecosystem.

Overview
Facilities that enroll into the NHPR are digitally connected to a host of interoperable,
digitally enabled services for dispensation of healthcare activities and service
delivery.

Caution up and Warnings.


Processes have been designed to ensure that only verified facilities are onboarded
after approval from respective authorized bodies.

Set- Consideration
National Healthcare Provider Registry (NHPR) follows a minimalistic approach to
data collection and only seeks information which is necessary to verify the identity
and credentials of a health facility. This includes demographic, contact, registration,
and basic infrastructure details.

User access Consideration


All starred fields are mandatory. They allow us to cross-check the information
provided. It is advisable toinclude any address proofs, facility image.

2. FUNCTIONALITIES IN HFR

a) Health Professional ID (HPID) creation

Step 1: Go to the portal https://nhpr.abdm.gov.in/home to register in the National Healthcare


Providers Registry Portal.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Login/ Registration’ button on the right upper side of the screen.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Register Here’ option available at the bottom of the page.

Step 4: Then the next page appears. These are the following two options to generate
the Healthcare Professional ID –
 Via Aadhaar
 Via Driving License

Here we will go step by step on how to generate the Healthcare Professional ID via
Aadhaar-

Step 5: The user has to click on the ‘Aadhaar’ option to generate the Healthcare
Professional ID.

Step 6: After entering the Aadhaar number, the user has to click on ‘I agree’ option
and provide his/her consent. Then the captcha has to be entered.
After giving the consent and entering the captcha, the user has to click on the
‘Submit’ button.

Step 7: After clicking on the ‘Submit’ button, the user will get an OTP on the mobile
number linked with the Aadhaar.
Then the user will enter the OTP and again click on the ‘Submit’ button for
proceeding.

The details from the Aadhaar gets captured and the profile of the user appears to
proceed further for entering the details to register.

Step 8: The registration form appears where the user will enter the following details-
 Mobile number
 Email ID
Then the user will click on the ‘Verify’ option to verify both- the mobile number and
Email ID. Email id verification is optional but entering it is mandatory.

a) If the mobile number entered is verified/registered on Aadhaar, the pop-up would


appear.

b) If the mobile number entered is different from verified/registered in Aadhaar, then
enter the OTP sent to the entered mobile number.

Step 9: District and Sub-district are fetched from the information provided. If in case
it is not available enter the details manually.

Step 10: Roles available: the user can select any of the three roles mentioned below.
 I am a Healthcare professional: This option is for Doctor/ Nurse who is only a
Professional and not a Facility Manager.
 I am a Facility Manager/ Administration: This option is for Facility Manager
who is not a Healthcare professional.

 I am Healthcare Professional and Facility Manager: Professional who is a
Doctor/Nurse and Facility Manager.

Enter the Healthcare Professional ID/username. The user can also select the
username from the suggestion provided below the option.
Enter the Password and Confirm the password and click on ‘Submit’ button.
Password policy-Should be 8 characters, 1 character should be Capital, 1 should be
small, 1 special symbol and 1 numeric digit.

b) Facility Registration

Step 1: Select the role as “I am a facility manager/Administrator if the user is


only a facility manager but if the user is a facility manager as well as running
his/her own clinic then choose the role as “I am a Healthcare professional and
facility Manager”. Choose category as Facility Manager. Type your
HPID/username that you wish to keep and set a password for the same and
submit.

Step 2: When facility manager HPID is created, or manager has logged in, user will land
on the below screen and can start registering the facility by filling all the details.

Step 3: Fill all the basic details such as pin code, address, district and some of the fields
shall be auto populated based on the pin code and location of the facility. Once the
Pin code is entered, country, State/Union territory and district shall be auto populated.
To locate your facility, click on location icon and a map will open up.

NOTE: If you have any program linked such as NIN, PMJAY, NHRR etc. select the program type
from the dropdown menu and enter the registration Id. On clinking the search button all the
available details linked with the program Id shall be auto populated and remaining fields need
to be filled.

Step 4: Enter the Pin code and Click on the map icon present on the right side of the
Locate your facility. The Map would open, where you can search your facility by either
entering the name of the facility or by drag, drop and clicking on the Balloon Icon.

Step 5: Select the facility ownership which can be government, private or public private
partnership. Then select the ownership subtype, mandatory for government only. If the
ownership subtype is “Central” select ownership subtype 2 from the drop-down menu.
Select the system of medicine that is provided by the health facility. You may select
multiple systems if you are providing different system of medicines. Then select the
facility type which could be medical college, hospital, dispensary/clinic, pharmacy, blood
bank, laboratory and so on. Then select the type of service as OPD, IPD, daycare in case
the facility type is Clinic/dispensary, hospital, medical college. Click on save and next.

Step 6: Fill the type of specialization services provided by the health facility.

Step 7: Fill the bed details.

Step 8: Update Additional Facility Details such as Days of Operation, Shift timings etc.

Step 9: Upload a clear picture of Facility Building Photograph and Facility Board
Photograph. The building photograph that is being uploaded here shall be visible on
the digital certificate. Select the type of address proof and upload a document of the
same.

Step 10: Update the Linked ID fields if you are registered in any database. Select YES, if
the facility has been using any HMIS otherwise select NO. Mention the name of the
particular HMIS, if you are using any.

Step 11: All the information shall be displayed like this and if you wish to preview the
details that you have filled, click on “click here” in blue color to check for any inaccurate
information. You can also keep the settings for public display as per your convenience.
For this, click on “click here” in red color.

Step 12: For public display, we have two major fields. One is mandatory and the other is
optional. All the mandatory fields will be visible on the public search page while as you
may uncheck the options fields which you do not want to be displayed on the public
search page and click on Submit button to proceed.

Step 13: Tick the check box after reading, comprehending, and agreeing to it, then click
the E-sign & submit button.

Step 14: For e-sign, Enter the Aadhar Number.

Step 15: Enter the OTP that has been received on the registered mobile number and
click on Submit button.

Step 16: PDF shall be generated after the successful submission of the facility.

Step 17: Facility ID is created and submitted for verification

Step 18: After the facility has been approved by the verifier, the status shall change from
submitted to approved. The digital certificate will only be visible once the status of a
facility changes from submitted to approved. Now you can download the certificate by
clicking on “Certificate”.

c) Software Linkage
Step 1: Facility manager will login into the National Healthcare Providers Registry
Portal.

Step 2: On the facility dashboard user will see the registered facilities. Click on
“Software Linkage” on the facility card.

Step 3: Add the bridge id and click on “Get Details” button.

Step 4: The details of the bridge will appear in the lower grid if the correct bridge id
is added.
a) If the bridge is getting linked with facility for the first time, then HIP name will
auto fetch.
b) If a bridge is already mapped with the facility and user is adding another
bridge then user must add the “HIP name”.

c) “HIP name” is the name of facility which is visible in ABHA application while
searching for the facility, in case more than 1 bridge is linked HIP name should
be different to uniquely identify the software/bridges.
d) Click on “Register HIP” button.

Step 5: On the click of “Register HIP” button system will ask for the confirmation click
on “Yes” to link the bridge

Step 6: Once a bridge is linking user can generate the QR code for sharing of
records.

a) Click on “Manage QR code” button.

b) Fill the “Counter” and select the “category”.

c) Click on “generate QR” Click ok on confirmation popup.

d) Once the QR is generated, user can print the QR by clicking on print icon. This
QR code can be used on facility counters for scan and share. User can also
delete a QR code by clicking in the delete icon.

d) Add healthcare professionals

Step 1: Facility manager will login into the National Healthcare Providers Registry
Portal.

Step 2: On the facility dashboard user will see the registered facilities. Click on “Add
healthcare professional” on the facility card.

Step 3: On this screen user can see already linked healthcare professional. If no
healthcare professional is added or to add another healthcare professional. Click on
add healthcare professional button.

Step 4 User can search a doctor/nurse by two ways.

a) User can search professional through Healthcare Professional Id


b) User can search by using Name and Mobile number.
c) On search professional details will reflect in the below grid.
d) User can add the designation and department of the professional if they want.
e) Click on declare button to add the professional.

f) Click on yes on confirmation popup,

g) On declaration usen can view the linked healthcare professional.

h) The healthcare professional can also declare himself/herself of working in a facility


which can be approved or rejected by the facility manager of that particular facility.
The request made by healthcare professional will be visible to the facility manager in
the pending healthcare professional declaration section. If the request is approved by
facility manager, the healthcare professional will be visible in the declared list.

e) Transfer the Facility
Step 1: Click on Transfer Facility from the dashboard.

Step 2: Click In the “Facility Name” section, select the facility name that you want
to transfer. In the “Healthcare Professional ID” section, add the HPID of the facility
manager to who you want to transfer the facility and click on initiate request.

Step 3: A confirmatory message shall come to confirm if you want to transfer the
facility. Click on OK.

Step 4: The initiated request will be reflected in the lower grid.

f) Accept/Reject the facility transfer request


Step 1: Once the request has been initiated, a notification will appear on the new
facility manager’s dashboard. From “My Dashboard” screen user can click on “Transfer
Request” tab to view the initiated transfer request list and approve or reject the
transferred facility accordingly. On approval of the request, the facility will be visible
on the dashboard.

g) Role change

CASE 1: If the user is registered as a Healthcare professional and wants to be the facility
manager/Admin and Healthcare professional both (From Role No. 1 to Role No.3)
CASE 2: If the user is registered as a Healthcare Facility Manager and wants to be the
facility manager/Admin and Healthcare professional both (From Role No. 2 to Role
No.3)

CASE 1

Step 1: Open the website nhpr.abdm.gov.in and click on Login/Register.

Step 2: You may either login via HPID and password or Mobile number and OTP. Enter the
registered mobile number.

Step 4: Click on Login

Step 5: This is the HPR profile. To edit the role, Click on the pen icon.

Step 6: Here the role selected is “I am a Healthcare Professional”

Step 7: Select the role as “I am a Healthcare Professional and Facility Manager”

Step 8: Now the role has been changed and you may register a facility by clicking on the three
lines at the left-hand side. Now select Health Facility Registry from the drop down.

Step 9: To register a new facility, start filling the facility details and proceed.

CASE 2
Step 1: Open the website nhpr.abdm.gov.in and click on Login/Register.

Step 2: You may either login via HPID and password or Mobile number and OTP. Enter the
registered mobile number.

Step 3: Enter the OTP received on your mobile number.

Step 4: This is the HFR profile. To edit the role, Click on the three lines at the left corner.

Step 5: A drop down menu will appear, select profile and click on edit profile to change your
role.

Step 6: Here the initial role selected is “I am a Facility manager/Administrator”

Step 7: Change the role to “I am a Healthcare professional and Facility manager”. Select
the category and sub category and then click on submit button.

Step 7:Now the role has been changed and you may start registering yourself as a
healthcare professional.
