Direction: Read and analyze the sentence. Write TRUE if the statement is correct and write
FALSE if the statement is incorrect.

1. The nerve cell or neuron is the basic unit of Nervous System.

1. Reviewing the

4. The axon passes messages TOWARD the cell body.
5. Synapes is the gap between the neurons and allows signals to pass from one neuron
to another.

Question and
Objectives
Objective

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to;

a. Explain what is homeostasis;
b. describe how the nervous system coordinates and regulates these feedback
mechanisms to maintain homeostasis; and
c. distinguish between negative and positive feedback.
 Discussion

Homeostasis- The maintenance of internal balance in an organism despite changes in the

environment.

How Nervous system coordinates and regulates feedback mechanism to maintain

homeostasis?

4. Discussing new The Nervous System is the control center of the body for homeostasis, as it is in charge for
concepts and monitoring, controlling and regulating all the body systems.
practicing new
skills #1 Positive And Negative Feedback Mechanism
(EXPLORE)

Positive Feedback Mechanism- When a response to a stimulus is increased, positive feedback

is happening.
Ex. Blood clotting- When tissue is torn or injured, a chemical is released. This chemical causes
platelets in the blood to activate.
Negative Feedback Mechanism- When a response to a stimulus is decreased or reduced,
negative feedback is happening.
Ex. Temperature regulation- When the body’s temperature rises, the brain and skin receptors
sense the change, triggering several responses in order to decrease body temperature.
