Superheroes defend the innocent and fight crime. But not all superheroes
were always superheroes. Some of them were actually criminals. Here are the
thrilling stories of three incredible DC comic book characters.
Catwoman
Born Selina Kyle, Catwoman had to lie and steal in order to survive on the
streets of Gotham City as a young girl with no parents. She is fast, flexible
and a great fighter – so it’s not surprising that she used to be one of Batman’s
greatest enemies. But Selina has changed. In fact, she and Batman have
become great friends. Now she rides her motorbike and captures supervillains
herself.
Harley Quinn
Sometimes love makes people do awful things. That’s what happened to
Harley Quinn. Harley was a very clever and caring psychologist living in
Gotham City. There she met a criminal called the Joker. She fell in love with
him and helped him to run away. But the Joker was not good for her. After
breaking up with him, she quit her life of crime and became a superhero,
helping people in need, saving animals and punishing the bad guys.
Beast Boy
Feather, fur or fins? Exotic or endangered species? Beast Boy can transform
himself into any animal. He used to be a normal boy called Logan, but one
day, a rare disease made him very ill, and his father, a scientist, tried to save
him. Only the West African green monkey could resist the disease. So he gave
his son the DNA of that animal. The experiment succeeded, but it turned
Logan green and gave him the ability to take the form of any animal. After his
parents died, some bad men forced him to use his powers to help them with
their crimes. But when he himself became a victim of a crime, two
superheroes saved him and encouraged him to quit his life of crime.
