Supporting Material 1 - "Even and Odd Numbers" by Scholastic: A resource explaining the
concepts of even and odd numbers with fun facts and examples.
Supporting Material 2 - "Understanding Factorization" by Math is Fun: This material provides
insights into how divisibility rules assist in factorization and includes practice problems.
H.O.T.S.:
Question 1 - Why do you think understanding even and odd numbers is important in real life?
Answer 1 - It helps in organizing items, making decisions, and understanding patterns in data.
Question 2 - How would you explain the concept of even and odd numbers to someone who
doesn’t know?
Answer 2 - I would say even numbers can be paired up without leftovers, while odd numbers
have one left out.
Question 3 - Can you think of a scenario where knowing whether a number is even or odd would
be crucial?
Answer 3 - In sports, knowing if a score is even or odd can determine who wins or if a tiebreaker
is needed.

TOPIC: “Applying Divisibility Rule for 5 to Find Factors”
D. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. solve problems involving the common factors of numbers using the divisibility rule
for 5;
2. demonstrate accuracy in applying the divisibility rule for 5 to various numbers; and
3. show interest in exploring the connection between divisibility rules and prime
factorization.
Question 2 - How would you explain the concept of divisibility to a younger student?
Answer 2 - I would use simple terms and examples, like using objects to show how they can be
grouped without leftovers.
Question 3 - Can you think of a scenario where knowing if a number is divisible by 5 would be
useful?
Answer 3 - Yes, when dividing items among friends, like candies or toys, knowing divisibility
ensures everyone gets an equal share.

D. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. critique the effectiveness of the divisibility rule for 10 in identifying factors;
2. execute mental math strategies to determine if numbers are divisible by 10; and
3. value the role of divisibility rules in building a strong foundation in number theory.
Supporting Material 1 - "Math Rules: Divisibility" - This book provides a comprehensive overview
of divisibility rules with examples.
Supporting Material 2 - "The Joy of Numbers" - A fun resource that explores the importance of
numbers in everyday life and mathematics.
H.O.T.S.:
Question 1 - How could you explain the divisibility rule for 10 to a younger student?
Answer 1 - I would say that a number is divisible by 10 if it ends with a 0, and I would show them
examples like 20 and 30.
Question 2 - What real-life situations can you think of where knowing about divisibility is useful?
Answer 2 - When shopping, knowing if a total price is divisible by 10 can help with quick
calculations for discounts.
Question 3 - If a number is divisible by both 5 and 10, what does that tell you about the number?
Answer 3 - It tells you that the number ends in 0 because all numbers divisible by 10 are also
divisible by 5.
