Theoretical Foundation of Nursing

Prof: Katrine B. Gabrido

Escalona, Dannielle Ashley R.

Name: Ocian Catalo, RN

1:Can you describe a situation where your advanced nursing knowledge and
skills directly influenced a positive outcome in patient care or in the
education of future nurses?

;It became clear to me throughout my clinical training at Hospital's

emergency room how crucial effective communication is amongst nurses. A
patient came up to me one evening and said he had been waiting twenty
minutes for his medication. Since I was a new patient at the hospital, I first
checked in with his nurse before choosing to give it to him.
The patient's attending nurse had already given him the medication when it
was discovered that he had Alzheimer's disease. This dialogue made it easier
for our group to guarantee the patient's security. I make use of this pertinent
experience to remind me to always put good communication with nurses and
other staff members first in order to keep my patients safe and well.

2:Did you know anything about nursing even when you were freshmen?

;No, it was during my first year at this college of nursing, and I can honestly
tell that it's challenging yet worthwhile and fascinating! It is an amazing
feeling to put in endless hours of study time and then ace examinations or
practicals with scores of 80 and 100. I've discovered that putting in eight
hours a day of schoolwork prepares me well for doing the activities I enjoy on
the weekends. It's challenging but well worth it. Many of my lecturers and I
have grown close. Talking to them is not a sign of weakness, especially in a
large lecture class! Even though Dr. Ballos teaches my lecture class with
hundreds of other students, I still feel like I can ask him anything directly.

3:What is the most important thing you learned as a nursing student/nursing

graduate? and how did you apply this as a nurse or educator.

;Despite all of its difficulties, nursing school will remain a fantastic period of
your life during which you will not only pick up vital skills but also get to know
amazing people who will inspire you to reach your full potential. Be self-
assured and don't hesitate to own up to your errors; just make sure you take
the necessary lessons away. It's a unique curriculum, but once you get used
to the chaos, Nursing feels like home. your instructors are your most valuable
resources since they are experts in their field and can help you succeed
because of their experience. show initiative by participating in the programs
and volunteering opportunities offered by the school, just keep in mind to set
priorities! i hope this post provides you with a brief overview of being future
nurse.

4:How has your BS degree prepared you to collaborate effectively with

interdisciplinary healthcare teams?

;We stress how crucial interdisciplinary teamwork is to provide all-

encompassing patient care. talking about our experiences dealing with
therapists, pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
Give instances of how we worked with various professionals to coordinate
care and communicate effectively in order to achieve favourable patient
outcomes. In order to provide patients with high-quality care, collaboration is
essential. Having open lines of communication and treating other healthcare
providers with respect is important to me. I participate actively in care
conferences, participate in interdisciplinary rounds, and make sure that
pertinent information is shared on time. We can provide complete and
coordinated care that meets our patients' requirements holistically by
promoting effective collaboration.
