Word processors have varieties of uses and applications within the business
world, home, offices, and school. The following are the uses of word
processor.
A. OFFICES
1. It is used to prepare letters, memos and letterheads.
2. It is used for preparing memos.
3. It is used for printing typed document.
4. It is used for book publications.
B. HOMES
1. It is used for letter writing or writing letters.
2. It is used for writing stories.
3. It is used for preparing resume and curriculum vitae.
4. It is used for preparing budget.
5. It is used for creating or designing cards.
6. It is used for typing our school assignments.
7. It can be used for composing e-mail messages.
C. EDUCATION
1. It is used for preparing time tables.

The facilities available in a word processor can be used to

EXPLANATION
1. Type document:
In typing a document, you must first create the document as a blank
document (CTRL + N). Afterwards, you can start typing into the blank
document created.
Copying the document, you have the document both at the old location and
the new location, that is, copy and paste (CTRL + C and CTRL + V).
To copy a document five major methods are involved and they are:
i. Shortcut method
ii. Keyboard method (Ctrl + C – to copy and Ctrl + V – to paste)
iii. Drag and drop method
iv. Ribbon bar method
v. Right mouse method
FONT
1. Font face e.g. Ariel, Times New Romans, Comic Sans MS etc.
2. Font size: Microsoft has embedded font sizes ranging from 8 – 72.
3. Font style e.g. Bold, Italic, Underline, Justify
4. Font color: This displays color effects on text such as red, blue, green
etc
5. Font effects: This displays other effects on text such as Strike-through,
Subscript, Superscript, Change case etc.
EXPLANATION
1. Editing:
This involves fine-tuning the document. It may involve adding more
information or removing some information that might no longer be needed
in the document.
With word processing, you can change the appearance of your text by
formatting the text.
3. Justification:
This makes text to be in stretch form and also make text cover almost the
entire sheet margin. It is similar to the block format of paragraphing.
It ensures that text in a document is of the same edges both on the right
and the left of the document.
There are three other alignment options apart from justification, they are:
The Replace dialogue box requires that you type in the word you
are looking for in the textbox in front of “Find What” then you are expected
to type the word you wish to replace with in front of the “Replace With”
textbox.
6. File merging:
File merging allows you to merge two entirely different text documents into
one; sometimes it can be more than two depending on the reason for
merger.
File merging allows you to merge text from one file into another file.
7. Text Wrapping:
Text wrapping or wrapped text is where the text on a page is arranged to
flow around an image or an object.
