Assignment #1
Using color tiles (paper cut outs) create the following shapes
Create a shape with an area of 20 and a perimeter of 18
Create a shape with an area of 5 and a perimeter of 12
Create a shape with an area of 16 and a perimeter of 20
Create a shape with an area of 35 and a perimeter of 24
Create a shape with an area of 25 and a perimeter of 20
Example 1 Example 1
Finding area using the formula: Finding perimeter using the formula: P = (2 x L) + (2 x w)
P = (2 x 5) + (2 x 2)
A=LXW
A=5x2
A = 10 P = 10 + 4 = 14

Assignment #2
Design a Zoo Challenge
Choose an animal that you want to include in your zoo
Cut out large enough rectangles using grid paper and glue them onto the
square border of your zoo.
Cut out the animals and glue them into their enclosures.
Color your zoo, then cut it out and glue it onto construction paper.
Fill in the table at the bottom with the area and perimeter for each of
your animal enclosures.
The square footage listed is for each individual animal. For example, if you decide to have 3
elephants, then you would need 6,300 sq. ft.
