LESSON PLAN 1: PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE

Time allowed: 90 minutes

I. Objectives
1
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Grammar: Memorise the usage, form of Present Simple tense in affirmative and negative
sentences.
- Vocabulary: Memorise some words related to daily life.
2. Competence:
2.1. General competencies: Strengthen group work and independent working, pair work,
and cooperative learning.
2.2. Specific competencies:
- Speaking: Talk about their own routines using Present Simple.
- Listening: Identify Present Simple structures in a dialogue or conversation.
- Writing: Apply Present Simple in structured sentences and paragraphs.
3. Quality:
- Being hard-working and attentive in class.
- Have a positive attitude towards the lesson.
- Improve discussion skills.
II. Teaching aids:
- Blooket game link (prepared in advance).
- Powerpoint slides with images of products.
- Smartphones/tablets (for Blooket).
- Flashcards & role-play cue cards.
- Audio recordings
III. Teaching procedure:

A. ACTIVITY 1: Warm up (10’)
a. Objectives:
- To create a good environment in the class and stimulate students’ learning motivation.
- To activate students’ prior knowledge of Present Simple verbs.
b. Content: Jumbled words & Quick chat
c. Outcome: Ss can guess the main topic of the lesson.
d. Procedure:
#1 Task delivering:

- T displays scrambled words on the board (e.g., "veils" → "lives", "etsa" → "eats")..

- T asks Ss to work in pairs to unscramble and write the correct verbs.


- The pairs with the more correct answers will be the winner.
#2 Task performance: Ss take part in the game and follow T’s instructions.
#3 Report and discussion: Ss discuss answers.
#4 Judgement:
- T confirms correct answers and announces the winner.
- T asks students simple questions (e.g., "Where do you live?" "What do you do every morning?").
- Ss respond using Present Simple.
B. ACTIVITY 2: Pre-task – Grammar presentation & Controlled practice (20’)
a. Objective: Introduce the Present Simple structure and guide students to form sentences.
b. Content: Introduction the Present Simple and complete Grammar exercise.
c. Outcome: Ss can remember the usage, form of Present Simple tense in affirmative and negative
sentences.
d. Procedure:
#1 Task delivering: Ss complete the "Complete the gaps" activity in the textbook.
#2 Task performance:
- T elicits answers and explains:
 Affirmative: “I live in a flat”
 Negative: “I don’t live in a flat”
- Ss find three negative verbs in the text.
- Ss work in pairs to complete Exercise 3 (fill in the blanks with given words).
#3 Report and discussion:
- T calls some Ss to give their answers.
- Ss share opinions with the whole class or listen to others.

- T checks answers in class and discuss meaning.
#4 Judgement: T gives Ss comments and concludes key points.
C. ACTIVITY 3: Task cycle – Speaking, Writing & Gamified learning (45’)
Task 1: Information gap - My classmate’s routine" (15 minutes)
a. Objective: To help Ss brainstorm ideas about daily routines.
b. Content: Discussion.
c. Outcome: Ss can talk and discuss about daily routines.
d. Procedure:
#1 Task delivering: T pairs receive different role cards with missing routine details.
#2 Task performance:
- Ss take turns asking and answering questions to complete the routine.
- Sample questions:
 “What time do you wake up?”
 “Do you go to school by bus?”
#3 Report and discussion:
- T asks some pairs to share their answers with the whole class.
- Ss share opinions with the whole class or listen to others.
#4 Judgement: T gives Ss comments and correct grammatical mistakes subtly if necessary.
Task 2: Blooket live quiz – Grammar reinforcement
a. Objective: To reinforce Present Simple knowledge in an engaging way.
b. Content: Play Blooket interactive games.
c. Outcome: Ss can remember the grammar point of the lesson.
d. Procedure:
#1 Task delivering: T draws Ss’ attention to Blooket.
#2 Task performance:
- Ss play Blooket in teams.
- T hosts the game.
- Questions include:
 Fill-in-the-blank sentences.
 Sentence correction.
 Converting affirmative to negative sentences.
#3 Report and discussion: Ss share opinions with the whole class or listen to others when peers
explain the answer for each quiz.

#4 Judgement: T gives Ss comments and prize to the winner team.
Task 3: Role-playing daily routines (15 minutes)
a. Objective: To encourage fluency and accuracy in spoken Present Simple.
b. Content: Interview celebrity about their daily routine.
c. Outcome: Ss can use and apply the Present Simple in real-life situations.
d. Procedure:
#1 Task delivering: T asks Ss to work in small groups (3-4 members).
#2 Task performance: Ss watch the video and take notes.
- Each group gets a scenario (e.g., "You are a journalist interviewing a celebrity about their daily
routine.")
- Ss prepare and act out their role-play.
#3 Report and discussion:
- T calls some group to act out their discussion.
- Ss share answers with the whole class or listen to others.
#4 Judgement:
- T gives Ss comments and feedback.
- T develops further discussion if needed.
D. ACTIVITY 4: Post-task – Writing & Reflection (10’)
a. Objectives: To help Ss apply Present Simple in structured writing.
b. Content: Write sentences.
c. Outcome: Ss can memorise the usage, form of the Present Simple.
d. Procedure:
#1 Task delivering:
- T asks Ss to write 8-10 sentences about their own routine.
- T asks Ss to do individually.
#2 Task performance: Ss work individually to complete the exercise.
#3 Report and discussion:
- Peer review: Exchange and correct errors in pairs.
- T selects some Ss to read aloud their routines.
#4 Judgement:
- T gives feedback and comments.
- T develops further discussion if needed.
E. WRAP-UP & HOMEWORK (5’)

a. Objective: To consolidate the lesson.
b. Content: Reiterate the usage, form of the Presen Simple.
c. Outcome: Ss have a summary of the Presen Simple and the notes of homework.
d. Procedure:
#1 Task delivering: T asks Ss to reiterate the usage, form of the First Conditional sentences they
have learnt.
#2 Task performance: Ss reiterate what they have learnt as T expects.
#3 Report and discussion:
- Ss share the answers with a peer.
- T sums up all the knowledge of the lesson.
#4 Judgement: T gives assessment to the performance of the whole class and assigns homework.
