Unit 1: All types

A movie/ book that you particularly like:

Do you know why the series of books "How to Win Friends and Influence People" brings benefits to
readers? Each book brings many valuable lessons to readers. For me, the book "Loving People" by author
Dale Carnegie is a book that I especially love. This book compiles a series of principles and skills to help
readers improve their communication skills and build better relationships. There are three reasons why the
book appeals to me. Firstly, this book helps us believe in ourselves. It reaches us to always believe in
ourselves and do not expect others to handle our work for us. Actually, challenging myself wil help me
improve more than just competing with others. Second, this book helps me understand the problem and
be patient. I will quickly forget the shortcomings that others have made or forget the things that they have
not been able to accomplish. Third, this books helps me be more determined: By motivating myself, I will
always have the motivation to do everything I want. Always repeating my resolutions is a good habit that
I should create for myself. I write hose resolutions on pieces of paper and read them again. Then I should
only choose resolutions that I deeply believe I can achieve. Those who dare to act can win. Know how to
stay away from pain and find happiness. Investing today is investing for tomorrow. I also need to have the
necessary attitude of gratitude.

In short, an "expensive book" is an expensive work that the author wants to send to readers the message
that each generation of readers will feel and discover from the book a way of thinking, behaving and
living. new. Good, interesting and very useful for my life. The book has helped many people change their
lives for the better. They consider the book a handbook on life philosophy, ensuring success and
happiness in life..
A place or a subject
Public speaking is one of my favorite courses in college. It has not only helped me
conquer my fear of addressing an audience but has also provided me with essential
soft skills for both my personal life and career. Initially, I was quite anxious about
presenting my ideas to the class, but with the support of my instructors and consistent
practice, I gradually gained confidence. I learned how to create engaging
presentations, use language effectively, and interact with audiences.
One aspect I particularly enjoy about this subject is the group work involved.
Collaborating on presentations, discussing ideas, and providing feedback to one
another has taught me how to function effectively in a team, as well as the importance
of listening to and valuing others' perspectives.
Public speaking has not only enhanced my communication abilities but has also
fostered my critical thinking skills. I have learned to analyze information, assess
arguments, and construct persuasive points.
I am confident that the skills and knowledge I’ve gained from public speaking will be
invaluable in my future, especially in a professional setting. I will feel more assured
when attending meetings, presenting to clients, or sharing my opinions.
The best personality of a business leader
In today’s corporate landscape, effective business leaders must possess both professional
expertise and exceptional personal attributes. Among these, integrity stands out as a crucial trait
for a leader. Integrity embodies honesty, transparency, and reliability. Leaders who demonstrate
integrity foster trust among their employees and partners, which is vital since trust serves as the
cornerstone of all business relationships. When team members have confidence in their leaders,
they tend to work more diligently and effectively, and are more inclined to share ideas and
contribute to the organization’s growth.

1

honesty and open communication, which creates an environment where employees can thrive
and express their ideas. This type of work setting not only attracts skilled individuals but also
encourages them to stay with the organization over time.
Ultimately, integrity empowers leaders to make sound and sustainable choices. When confronted
with challenges, those who value integrity prioritize the group's interests over their own personal
gains. This not only fosters sustainable business growth but also generates positive societal
value.
In summary, integrity is a vital quality for business leaders. It builds trust, enhances workplace
culture, and paves the way for long-term success.

Unit 2 ( cause- effects)
Positive effects of using social media in the classroom
In recent years, social media has become a crucial element in our everyday lives.
While it is commonly linked to entertainment and social interaction, its ability to
2
transform education is clear. Social media can significantly enhance students' learning
experiences.
Firstly, incorporating social media in the classroom boosts student engagement. When
educators use social media as part of their lessons, it encourages students to
participate actively. For instance, sharing class announcements or discussion prompts
on social media can motivate students to share their ideas and thoughts beyond the
confines of the traditional classroom. This heightened engagement makes learning
more interactive while also fostering communication and critical thinking skills
among students.
Secondly, social media serves as an effective tool for personalized learning. By
customizing content and activities to fit each student's unique needs and interests,

platforms can facilitate personalized tasks, deliver specific feedback, and offer
supplementary resources. This tailored approach can inspire students and cultivate a
greater sense of ownership in their educational journey.
In conclusion, the incorporation of social media into classroom settings offers
numerous advantages for both students and teachers. By enhancing communication,
collaboration, personalized learning, and real-world connections, social media can
redefine traditional education, making it more dynamic, engaging, and effective. As
technology progresses, it is vital for educators to adopt these tools and utilize their
potential to develop innovative and impactful educational experiences.
Some of the reasons that friendships sometimes die
Friendship plays a vital role in everyone's life, yet it often proves difficult to maintain.
Various factors can lead to the end of friendships, which in turn negatively impact
personal relationships.
Firstly, a significant cause of friendship breakdowns is jealousy and competition.
When one friend experiences success or gains more attention, jealousy can emerge,
causing unpleasant feelings that may damage the relationship. If competition takes the
place of mutual support, the friendship stands to suffer.
Second, betrayal is one of the most serious reasons why friendships break up. Trust is
foundational to any friendship, and when it's broken, mending the relationship
becomes challenging. The person who has been betrayed may feel deeply wounded
and lose faith in the friendship.
In summary, several reasons contribute to the end of friendships, such as jealousy,
competition, and betrayal. These elements not only weaken the bond between friends
but also generate negative feelings that impact both individuals. To foster lasting

3
friendships, it is crucial to engage in regular communication and share life
experiences..
Some beneficial effects of international travel on an individual
Traveling internationally offers numerous advantages for individuals, contributing not
just to their experiences but also to personal growth. These benefits frequently arise
from exploring and experiencing diverse cultures.
Firstly, international travel broadens one's perspective. Visiting different countries
allows for engagement with the local culture, traditions, and history, which enhances
our understanding of the world and cultivates critical thinking and adaptability in
various situations. Interacting with locals provides insight into their way of life,
further enriching our experiences.
Additionally, international travel enhances communication skills. When in a new
country, we often find our language and communication abilities challenged. We learn
to effectively interact with people from different backgrounds, whether it’s asking for
directions or negotiating in various contexts. Strong communication skills are
invaluable in daily life and play a crucial role in career development, enabling us to
build a broader network.
In summary, international travel offers significant benefits, from expanding
knowledge and honing communication skills to boosting mental well-being. These
advantages contribute not only to personal improvement but also to the creation of
cherished life memories.

How did travel long distances before modern inventions such as the airplane
Before the advent of modern inventions like airplanes, people devised various means
and methods for long-distance travel. Understanding these methods offers insight into
the challenges faced by our ancestors and their solutions.
Firstly , when traveling on land, individuals commonly utilized horses and carriages.
Horses served as a favored mode of transportation, allowing for quicker movement
compared to walking. Merchants and travelers frequently relied on horse-drawn
carriages to transport goods and baggage, although the pace remained relatively slow.
Over time, the road network improved as roads connected cities and villages, making
travel easier.

Should couples be required to take parenting classes before deciding to have a baby?
Raising children is among the most significant responsibilities that couples encounter.
Thus, attending parenting classes prior to having children is a wise choice with
numerous advantages.
Firstly, these classes offer vital insights into child development, covering the
psychological, physical, and social stages children go through. Gaining this
6
understanding prepares parents for the changes that come with parenthood and equips
them to recognize and address any challenges that might arise during their parenting
journey.
Secondly, the classes enhance parenting skills. Couples learn effective communication
strategies with their children, how to navigate challenging situations, and ways to
instill positive habits. These skills not only boost their confidence as parents but also
foster a supportive and nurturing atmosphere for their children.
In summary, participating in parenting classes before having children is crucial. It
equips parents with essential knowledge and skills while strengthening the bond
between couples. This preparation creates an ideal environment for children's growth
and ensures that parents can fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
Should a child be allowed to have full access to technology before the age of five?
In today's digital world, the issue of young children's access to technology has sparked
debate. Many parents and educators argue that early exposure to technology is
essential for developing future skills. However, I believe that children should not have
unrestricted access to technology before they turn 5.
Firstly, children under 5 are at a crucial developmental phase where physical,
psychological, and social growth occurs. This is a vital time for them to engage with
their environment through play, exploration, and communication with others.
Excessive screen time can hinder their opportunities to cultivate important social and
emotional skills. Kids need to learn how to interact with peers, understand emotions,
and form social connections, which technology cannot adequately provide.
Additionally, much of the content available on the internet is not suitable for young
children. While there are many safe and educational apps and games, there are also
plenty of unhealthy or inappropriate options. Unsupervised access to technology can
expose children to unsuitable materials, negatively impacting their psychological and
developmental progress.
In conclusion, granting children unlimited access to technology before the age of 5 is
unwise. Parents should instead restrict screen time and choose suitable content to
facilitate well-rounded development. The importance of natural growth through play
and social interaction in early childhood cannot be overstated. A balanced approach
that integrates technology with hands-on activities will yield the best outcomes for
children's development.
Should high school students be required to pass one year of a foreign language
course?

7
In an age of growing globalization, the importance of learning foreign languages in
education is increasingly evident. This raises the question of whether high school
students should be mandated to study a foreign language for a year. I strongly
advocate for the requirement of compulsory foreign language education, as it offers
numerous advantages to students.
Firstly, acquiring a foreign language enhances students' career prospects. In today’s
job market, proficiency in foreign languages, particularly English, is often essential.
Being able to communicate in another language not only boosts students' confidence
in their communication skills, but it also improves their employability. Those who can
speak multiple languages tend to have a competitive edge in the workforce.
Consequently, making foreign language study mandatory will furnish students with
the vital tools they need to thrive in their future careers.
Secondly, learning a foreign language cultivates critical thinking and communication
abilities. Mastering a new language involves more than just rote memorization of
vocabulary and grammar; it fosters critical and creative thinking. Studies indicate that
foreign language learning enhances problem-solving skills and boosts memory.
Additionally, engaging in conversation in another language helps students hone their
listening skills and express their ideas more clearly.
In summary, requiring high school students to take a year of foreign language is
essential. It not only broadens their career opportunities but also nurtures their
cognitive and communication skills. Furthermore, learning foreign languages
facilitates a deeper understanding of different cultures, contributing to the
development of informed global citizens. Therefore, I firmly believe that integrating
foreign language instruction into the curriculum is a wise and advantageous choice for
student growth.

change, urban expansion, and the destruction of natural habitats.
First, enhancing education and raising community awareness is vital. Informing
people about dangerous species, how to recognize them, and ways to mitigate risks
8
can empower them to better protect themselves and their families. Educational
initiatives can be implemented in schools, local communities, and through media
channels.
Finally, effective management and conservation efforts can help diminish the risks
posed by these species. For instance, governments could invest in research to gain
insights into the behavior and ecology of dangerous animals, leading to the
development of sound protection and management strategies. Establishing protected
areas and national parks can also safeguard their natural environments.
In conclusion, the presence of dangerous species is a pressing issue that demands
immediate attention. Through increased awareness, effective management, and
collaboration among stakeholders, we can mitigate the risks associated with these
species and preserve public health and ecological balance.
Noise pollution
Noise pollution is increasingly becoming a significant issue in modern society. Sounds
from traffic, construction, and industrial operations are not only irritating but also
have detrimental effects on individuals' health and overall quality of life. It is crucial
to recognize and address this issue swiftly.
One of the primary consequences of noise pollution is its impact on health. Numerous
studies indicate that extended exposure to noise can cause problems such as insomnia,
stress, and heart-related diseases. The nervous system is also compromised by
constant noise, resulting in anxiety and diminished concentration. Particularly
vulnerable to these effects are children and the elderly, highlighting the need for
strategies to mitigate noise levels.
First , it is vital to enhance noise management and control. The government should
implement stringent regulations regarding permissible noise levels for both industrial
and traffic activities. Utilizing noise reduction technologies in public transit, such as
buses and trains, is crucial. Furthermore, promoting the use of soundproofing

Disappearance of languages and cultures
In today's globalized world, the extinction of numerous languages and cultures has
become a pressing issue. This decline not only diminishes linguistic diversity but also
leads to the erosion of distinct cultural values, traditions, and knowledge that are
handed down through generations.
A primary factor contributing to the vanishing of languages and cultures is the
prevalence of dominant languages such as English, Chinese, and Japanese. As
individuals shift from their native tongues to these more widely spoken languages,
indigenous languages increasingly fade away, particularly among the youth.
Consequently, many generations miss out on learning the languages and cultures of
their ancestors, resulting in the loss of unique cultural heritage.
To address this challenge, one effective strategy is to enhance education surrounding
indigenous languages and cultures. Governments and cultural institutions should
implement programs that teach native languages in schools and promote
understanding of local history and culture. It is also vital to create educational
resources, books, and media in local languages to foster a supportive learning
atmosphere.
Finally , community involvement is crucial for the preservation and enhancement of
language and culture. Initiatives such as cultural festivals, exchange programs, and
traditional classes can raise awareness and motivate participation in cultural
preservation efforts. Engaging the community will help sustain and promote unique
cultural values.
In conclusion, the loss of language and culture is a significant issue that requires
attention. By bolstering education and fostering community involvement along with
international collaboration, we can protect and cultivate invaluable cultural heritage
for future generations.
Extreme shyness
Excessive shyness is a widespread issue encountered by many individuals,
particularly adolescents. Those who are shy often struggle with communication, self-
expression, and engaging in social activities. They may fear judgment or rejection,
which can lead to feelings of isolation and diminished self-esteem.
A significant factor contributing to shyness is the fear of being criticized. Many shy
individuals hesitate to speak with strangers or participate in larger discussions, making
it easy for them to withdraw from social interactions. Consequently, shyness can
adversely impact their relationships and opportunities for learning.

10
To address this challenge, a key initial step is to practice communication in a
supportive setting. Shy individuals can begin by joining small groups or clubs where
they feel at ease, gradually acclimating to social interactions without pressure.
Additionally, setting small objectives, such as initiating a conversation with one
stranger each week, can help them build their confidence.
Finally, boosting self-esteem is crucial. Engaging in personal development courses or
obtaining support from friends and family can assist shy individuals in recognizing
their positive attributes. Gaining self-awareness can empower them to express
themselves more confidently.
In summary, addressing extreme shyness is essential for enhancing one’s quality of
life. Through practicing communication, increasing self-awareness, and seeking
support, shy individuals can gradually conquer their fears and gain confidence in their
lives.
Illiteracy
Illiteracy poses a significant challenge, particularly in rural regions and areas facing
economic hardships. It not only impacts an individual's ability to communicate and
learn but also stifles the economic and social growth of the community. Those who
are illiterate often struggle to access information, find employment, and engage in
social activities.
A major factor contributing to illiteracy is the lack of educational opportunities.
Numerous children are unable to attend school due to economic constraints, family
circumstances, or other societal issues. Additionally, insufficient educational resources
and a lack of qualified educators further exacerbate this issue.
To address illiteracy, a crucial initial step is to boost investments in education.
Governments and non-profit organizations should create educational programs for
both children and adults, particularly in underprivileged areas. Establishing
community learning centers can provide individuals with the chance to study and
enhance their cultural knowledge.
Furthermore, collaboration among agencies, organizations, and communities is
essential to facilitate literacy courses. Volunteers and teachers can play a vital role in
instructing and guiding those who are illiterate, providing them with opportunities to
learn.
In summary, tackling illiteracy requires a comprehensive approach. By increasing
educational investments, organizing literacy courses, and promoting awareness, we
can diminish illiteracy rates and foster a more developed society
