ASSIGNMENT -1

1. Define the following terms (2x4)=8


a. Accuracy
b. Precession
c. Absolute error
d. True value
2. A 0- 150 v voltage has guaranteed accuracy 1% of the full scale reading.
The voltage measured by this instrument is 50 Volt. Calculate the Limiting
Error. (3)
3. Derive the equation with proper diagram of the following bridges –
a. Maxwell Bridge (4X5)=20
b. Hay’s Bridge
c. Wien Bridge
d. Capacitance comparison Bridge
4. A capacitance comparison bridge ( similar angle bridge ) used to measure
a capacitive impedance at a frequency of 2KHz. Bridge constants at
balance are – (5)
C3 = 100 µF
R1 = 10 KΩ
R2 = 50 KΩ
R3 = 100 KΩ
Find the equivalent series circuit of unknown impedance.
5. The arm of an AC constant bridge are arranged as follows-
AB & BC are non-reactive resistance of 100Ω each.
AD is a standard variable reactor L1 of resistance 32.7Ω
CD consists of standard variable resistor R in series with a coil of
unknown impedance Z, balance was found with L1 =50mH & Z=1.36 R.
Find the R & L of the coil. (5)
6. Find the series equivalent impedance & resistance of the network that
causes an opposite angle of null with following bridge arm. (5)
Ѡ=3000rad/sec, R2 = 10KΩ, R1 = 2KΩ, R3 = 1KΩ, C1 = 1µF
7. A Wien’s Bridge circuit consists of the following – (5)

R1 = 4.7KΩ
R2 = 20KΩ
R3 = 10KΩ
R4 =100 KΩ
C1 = 5nF
C3 = 10nF
Determine the frequency of the circuit.
