Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in MAPEH

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
 identify what are the most common communicable diseases.
 determine the cause, spread, and prevention of the communicable diseases.
 show awareness on the communicable diseases.
 demonstrate ways on how to prevent the common diseases.

II. Subject Matter


A. Topic: Most Common Communicable Diseases
B. Reference: Grade 8 - 3rd Quarter
C. Materials: Laptop (PowerPoint presentation)
D. Values to be integrated: Enable students understand the importance on valuing physical and self-
awareness

III. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Opening Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Review
 The teacher will ask about their previous topic.
4. Motivation
 The teacher will ask the students to get a piece of paper and answer the following
questions:
1. When was the last time you got sick?
2. What have you felt? What are the symptoms that you experienced?
3. What did you do to cure the sickness?
 The teacher will ask the students to keep the paper because it will used later.

B. Activity
 “I am Infected”
 2 of the students will pretend to be infected by a virus.
 The class must identify the 2 infected people by just using hand gestures.
 The class will just be given 5 mins find out.
1. Analysis
 Introduce the topic and start the discussion of the most common communicable diseases.
- Head Lice
- Chorela
- Malaria
- Influenza
- Chickenpox
 Ask the students if they experience any of the stated diseases.
 Discuss how these communicable diseases are spread and relate the previous activity a
while back.

 Ask students what prevention can be done to these communicable diseases.

2. Generalization
 The class will reiterate the causes, spread, and cure of the most common communicable
diseases.
 The teacher will ask the students to get the sheet of paper used before the discussion
and evaluate the whether it is a communicable or non-communicable disease.

3. Application
 “Task: News Casting”
 The teacher will divide the class into 4 groups. Each group will be given a specific
disease to be discuss by creating a short skit.
 The 2 students of each group will be portraying as reporters broadcasting the specific
disease while other group mates will act the scenario.
 The students must show how the disease spreads and how to prevent.
 The class will only be given 15 minutes to collaborate.
