 CoE for Sustainable Supply Chain

COE for Sustainable Supply chain was inaugurated on 16th April, 2022 by Honourable
Vice chancellor Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Chitkara University. The vision of the centre is to
be an agile and globally recognized as the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable
Supply Chain Management aligned with organizational mission of promoting
research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in collaboration with industry, research
centres and premier academic institutions. The major objectives of the centre is to
build competencies among students, and faculty members about resilient and
sustainable supply chains.

Having 30 years of experience with proven efficiency in Distribution, logistics,
warehousing, procurement, planning and inventory control. Adept to setting up
from scratch pan India distribution network, credit control and efficient debtor
management.. contributing regularly to bottom line through constant
improvement in process efficiency.

2. Dr. Pankaj Madan - Professor of Management and Former Dean of FMS with
expertise in Market Research, management consulting and data science
and analytics. he has more than 25 years of experience in Teaching and Research.
Presently working with Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar. He has
number of research projects and papers to his credit.

3.Tushar Shukla - is an accomplished E-commerce professional and National

Product Head for Sort Centre Business at Mahindra Logistics. With a rich
background at major players like Udaan.com, Flipkart, and DHL-Blue Dart, he
excels in handling national e-commerce sort centre operations, providing
contract logistics, and managing middle-mile operations. Tushar is experienced
in strategic planning, execution, and operational excellence, contributing
significantly to supply chain processes. His extensive career spans leadership
roles, including Regional Operations Head and Senior Operations Manager.
Tushar holds an MBA in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from the

4. Sumeet Shetty - a seasoned supply chain professional with 9.5 years of

experience, currently serves as a Senior Consultant at EY, specializing in E-
commerce supply chain, retail operations, process excellence, and digital
transformation. His expertise includes warehouse operations, project
management, and implementing Agile and Scrum methodologies . With
an MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Sumeet has a track record
of successful projects and has held managerial roles at Reliance Retail and
Reliance Industries Limited. Recognized for academic excellence, he represented
UPES at the World Business Forum and actively contributed to the NCPA-Supply
Chain Conference.

5.Divam Wadhwa - a computer science engineer turned entrepreneur, is the
Founder of Chai Nagri, a thriving brand with 25+ outlets across India. His
entrepreneurial journey began in the 4th year of college, starting with a small
canteen that has now expanded into a successful venture. Divam has diversified
into retailing tea leaves, collaborating with prominent entities for tea gift
hampers. Recognized for his achievements, he received the "30 under 30" rising
entrepreneur award and has shared his insights as a TEDx speaker. With a
Bachelor's in Computer Science from Chitkara University, Divam continues to
make a mark in the business world.

6.Anuj Thapliyal - a seasoned Management Consultant and Leadership Coach,
leverages over four decades of diverse experience from the Indian Armed
Forces and a distinguished management career. Specializing in Air Cargo
Logistics, Supply Chain, and Integrated Cold Chain, he led transformative
initiatives. As acertified Change Management Practitioner and former COO at
Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal, Anuj actively supports individuals in realizing
aspirations. With an MBA, he brings profound knowledge in operations
management, effective communications, and strategic leadership, driving
lasting personal and business growth.

7.Ashwani Khanna - Executive Director at AeroTech Support Services, is a
dynamic leader with a proven track record in driving business growth for
global airlines and airport companies. With a focus on strategic planning, he
enhances market share, increases margins, and ensures safety compliance. His
extensive experience includes roles at Delhi International Airport, Kingfisher
Airlines, and Jet Airways. Ashwani specializes in aircraft recovery and aviation
consultancy, leading successful projects like Taxibot India. A bottom-line-
focused consultant, he excels in overcoming obstacles and building global
alliances. Ashwani holds a Ph.D. in Aviation Management and an MBA in
Human Resource Development.

8. Balraj Dhull -Director of Operations at Blinkit, is an accomplished professional

with a robust background in Operations Management, Lean methodologies,
and Six Sigma. With a focus on Automotive and E-Commerce industries, he has
successfully led Green Field Projects for both sectors. Balraj has held key roles at
prominent companies like Flipkart, PlasticOmnium Auto Inergy, India Japan
Lighting, and BorgWarner Emission Systems. His expertise spans production,
assembly, and head operations, demonstrating strong leadership across diverse
manufacturing environments. Balraj holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering,
certifications in Six Sigma and Lean, and has pursued Supply Chain
Management from IIM Rohtak.

9.Rahul Pinjarkar - CHRO with 24+ years of diverse industry experience, has spent
14 years as a Country HR Head, fostering meritocracy, enhancing HR delivery,
managing industrial relations, and driving change. As the CHRO at Tata Chemicals,
he continues to shape the HR landscape. Previously, at Trent Hypermarket, a Tata &
Tesco venture, and Saint-Gobain, he held pivotal HR leadership roles. Rahul is
recognized as a thought leader in HR and Organizational Development, actively
participating in industry forums and conferences. He holds an MLS in Human

10.Deepak Jain, - Director at Argon & Co, is a strategically minded management

professional with expertise in strategy, operations development, digital
transformation, and omni-channel execution. Holding an MBA from INSEAD and
an engineering degree from IIT Bombay, he brings over 18 years of experience in
consulting and industry roles. Deepak played a crucial role in the profitability and
revenue growth of a major online grocery retailer in Australia and contributed to
Coca-Cola Euro pacific Partners' supply chain digitization. Currently leading
operational and business transformations at Argon & Co, he focuses on utilizing
digital technology for supply chain enhancement.

11.Ajit Nigam -, an entrepreneurial educator and CEO at NIFT

Foundation for Design Innovation, is a visionary leader with a decade-
long tenure at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies. He
specializes in building startup ecosystems, successfully launching over
25 startups and gaining global exposure. As the Associate Dean of
Incubation, he created the UPES Centre for Innovation and
Entrepreneurship (UCIE), recognized as a Nodal Incubator for
Uttarakhand. A seasoned professor and business development expert,
Ajit holds a Ph.D. in Management and an MBA in Marketing. His

12. Dr. Vinay Sharma - currently working as Professor, DOMS IIT

Roorkee. His educational background includes P.hD from Uttar
Pradesh Technical University in marketing and MBA from
Philippine Christian University Manila in 1994. His research
projects includes various projects from the government on socio
economic value creation. He is author of the book “ Stop
predicting , revist life”.He has been awarded with Noël Deerr
Gold Medal from Sugar Technologists Association of India in

where the objective was to was
to enhance the skill of the
students in field of Research.
Various aspects of research like
setting up objectives, chapter
writing and tools required to
carry out research were
discussed in detail. Students
were also updated regarding
industry expectations from

GUEST SESSION - Role of Automation in Logistics Sector and Importance of Data
Analytics

A Career counselling session for the students

of MBA LSCM was taken by Mr. Tushar Shukla,
National Product Head, Mahindra Logistics
discussed the role of automation in logistics.
He emphasised how big data in logistics helps
business owners transform huge amounts of
information and use it to their advantage. He
also shared some of the ways that big data
analysis can improve transparency and overall
productivity in your logistics business.
Students of supply chain must take into
consideration role of automation while
making careerchoices and take decision
accordingly.

IGUEST SESSION - Innovation in Warehousing and Supply chain disruptions in E-

Commerce Industry

The session on Innovations in

Warehousing and Supply Chain
Disruptions in E-Commerce Industry
was great and started with full
participation. The topic of the session
was Innovation in Warehousing and
Supply Chain Disruptions in Ecommerce
Industry. To start with, the trainer has
given a brief explanation about supply
chain distribution and its types. Trainer
has also discussed the tactics for
preparing for supply chain distribution
along with steps that should be taken
when a disruption has occurred. At the
penultimate stage, the trainer discussed
about innovation that can take place in
warehousing. Lastly, the whole session
was concluded and queries of students
were taken and answered pertinently.
 National Symposium

Centre of Excellence for sustainable Supply Chain organized two-days National Symposium on Future of
Work, Skilling and Mobility for Sustainable Supply Chain on 28th & 29th April 2023. With the objective to
provide a forum for industry professionals to deliberate on various aspects of the logistics and supply chain
industry. Another aim was to provide a platform for scholars and academicians to present their research
work.
The symposium had two panel discussions which discussed and gave their inputs on the sustainability
initiatives taken by Government of India and skill set required for the future workforce pertaining to
logistics and supply chain industry.

The panel discussion brings out significant insights on the skill set required by new generation in
order to re-shaping the future of work and to take the sustainability to the next level. They also
discussed about the recent transformations in retail, supply chain and aviation sector emphasizing
on the adaptability, mobility and digitalization ranging from raw material sourcing, production,
storage, delivery etc.

Dr. Ashwani Khanna, keynote speaker has addressed the audience on the current trends of
sustainability specifically in the aviation sector. The panel also discussed about collaborations to
work under sustainable environment by quoting various real-life examples and sharing their
experiences from industry and academia. Paper presentations were held after the panel
discussions. More than 70 papers were received for presentations. Out of which only 17 papers were
finalized for presentation in the symposium after stringent screening.

With zest and zeal, the symposium continued on the second day with keynote speaker Mr. Balraj
Dhull, where he shared his practical experiences with the students along with the need of skill set
required by the industries in the today’s technological environment. Further, he discussed on the
continual progress as per the industry demand specially giving importance to the three key factors
i.e. Intention, Mechanism and External factors which future work force should inculcate in them.

The session was concluded with the question answer round. The winners of the symposium have
been awarded with cash prizes and mementos. The symposium has definitely added value to all
the stakeholders and the collaborators which will make students industry ready for future needs.

COE- Sustainable Supply Chain, CBS organised Design-O-hub: Explore Your Imagination event.
It aimed to showcase innovation & amp; creativity, refine unique novel ideas into real execution
& collaborate and learn from practicing enthusiasts. On the first day participants were
familiarized about the importance of design thinking for sustainable development and how
designs can be used to better recycle and reuse waste products. The Chief guest was Dr. Ajit
Nigam, CEO, NIFT foundation for Design Innovation, Delhi, The second speaker was, Dr. Vinay
Sharma, Professor, IIT Roorkee and the third speaker was Mr. Divyam Wadhwa, Founder at
Chai Nagri, TEDx Speaker. On the second day of workshop focused on expert talks on design
thinking, design patent and what is the procedure to file an Indian Design Patent.

The session was addressed by Dr. Adarsh Aggarwal, Prof. Manpal Setia and Dr. Prateek
Shrivastava. We received entries from 17 groups in best out of waste competition. An exhibition
was put up in the Sculpture Park, Chitkara University, Punjab campus

CHTKARA UNIVERSITY SIGNED MoU WITH IATA

IATA, Montreal signed Agreement for Authorised Training

Centre with Chitkara University, Punjab on 9th November,
2022 for Aviation, Tourism & Hospitality and Supply Chain
Management domains. Chitkara University, Punjab
became the first University of state of Punjab to sign such
agreement for ATC with IATA. Agreement was signed
between Dr Sandhir Sharma, Dean - CBS, Chitkara
University, Punjab and IATA officials. This agreement would
pave the way for offering IATA certified courses to BBA
Aviation Management and students of other streams.

AeroTech Support Services Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi for
curriculum design and other academic and

interest of newly launched BBA Aviation

inputs for the design and update of curriculum.
The partnership will also assist students for onsite
visit to airport/Cargo Terminal, and practical
exposure for the aviation field.
