Use “Windows Server 2019” Machine → Open “Server manager” from the start menu
Click “Tools” from menu-bar → click “AD Users and Computers” option (see picture below)
Choose the Domain “utas.edu.om” → click small blue arrow to see all sub options → Choose “Users” from sub
options

Right click “Users” in the left pane → then choose “New” → then choose “User”
Enter the details as shown below to CREATE a NEW USER with “USER LOGIN NAME = nagoor” (user is created in
Server)

Password Settings for user “nagoor” (you can use the “windows-7” system and login to this account later)
Password = Admin@321
Select option → password never expires (Discussed the password rules and options in class) → Next → Finish.

Create 2(two) more users, “user login name” as
“yourname” and “myguest” with same passwords.

4b) Creating GROUP and Implementation of GROUP POLICY for “file,
folder and sub-folders”.

Right click the group “Managers” → then choose “Properties”

ADDING the two Users (meeran, myguest) as the MEMBERS of the GROUP (managers group)
Choose the tab “Members” → click “Add” option (see picture below)
(Auto detection of users in the object search place)
type the (object-name) user-name as “meeran" and click the “Check Names” button (see picture below)
You can see the (object-name) user-name is mapped automatically → click “OK” button

click “Add” option again (Auto detection detects the user with email address under utas domain)
type the (object-name) user-name as “myguest" and click the “Check Names” button (see picture below)

5a) In SERVER, creating “folder and file” and setting up “group policy” for
the folder and “access permission” to the file

folder name = “shared files”
Navigate into the “shared files” folder → create a new text file (as shown below)
setting up “group policy” for the folder and “access permission” to the file
Right click the folder “shared files” → choose “Properties” → Choose tab “Security” → click button "Advanced”
From your “windows7” PC you are accessing the “windows-server-2019” “shared folder”
Open and Login into client “windows 7” using any user account (cybercops user).
Try to modify and save the file → you will get warning “access is denied”
CREATE a GROUP named as “transport” and ADD these 2 users to that group.
Create a shared folder “mybox1” and within this folder create a file
“allsalary.txt” with some contents and Sharing the “mybox1” folder with the
MEMBERS of the GROUP “transport” with permissions as "full control"
Setting up “group policy” for the folder and “access permission” to the file
(include READ WRITE MODIFY LIST EXECUTE)
Accessing the “mybox1” folder from the Client “Windows-7” system and Open
the file "allsalary.txt" and try to modify the file. You must be able to modify the
file (without any warning).
