1. What are the four seasons? Describe the typical weather in each season!
- Hungary has continental climate, so we have 4 seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
- March, April and May are in spring. In spring the nature awakens from its long winter dream.
The temperature sometimes is cold, sometimes is hot. In March and in April we can still have
some frosty days. There are more and more sunny days, but sometimes it is rainy.
-In summer we have warm weather, with rainy days. Sometimes there are storms, and the
temperature is over 30. The summer months are June, July and August.
- September, October and November are the 3 months in autumn. The leaves are colourful
and fall off the trees. We usually have lots of rain, fog, even frosts in November and less and
less sunshine.
- The winter months are December, January and February. In winter the weather is usually
cold, The temperature is often around zero, In January it often snows We don’t have many
sunny days in winter.
2. What clothes do people wear in different season?
- In spring we wear light clothes but still some pullovers, jackets, jeans, trainers
- In summer people wear tops, T-shirts, light clothes, shorts, sandals or slippers.
- In autumn we dress up like in spring, but we wear more waterproof clothes .
-In winter people wear warm clothes, big coats and warm jackets, caps or hats, boots,
scarves, gloves, warm pullovers
3.What are the typical outdoor activities people can do in each season?
-In spring we can go riding a bike, take long walks in the countryside, play ballgames outside.
- In summer lots of people go swimming. and they can go rowing, boating. Some people go
camping, hiking or rock climbing. Ballgames, such as football, handball, volleyball, basketball,
tennis are also popular in summer.
- Autumn is the time when lots of people go sightseeing or go for long walks .
- In winter people can do winter sports, for example, skiing, skating, snowboarding, sledging
or tobogganing. Children can play snowballs or build snowmen.
4.What is your favourite season and why?
- My favourite season is summer because the weather is good, and I don’t have to go to
school. I usually go on holiday with my family. I visit my grandparents’. I often meet my
friends and we go to cafes or concerts. I can rest a lot as I don’t have to get up early. I enjoy
the good and warm weather.
5. What happens to nature in spring?
- In spring the nature awakens from its long winter dream. The trees are green. Spring flowers
appear, for example snowdrops, daffodils, tulips.
6. Which is the rainiest season?
- I think, autumn is the rainiest season in Hungary, especially October and November-
7. What is Indian summer?
-Indian summer is in September, when the weather is still like in summer with lots of sunshine
and high temperatures.
8. Why do schoolchildren like summer?
- They like it because the school year finishes in the middle of June and they can go on a long
holiday. In my opinion, teachers like summer as much as students do.
9. What is the weather like today? What was it like yesterday?
- It is cold / warm / hot. The temperature is about ... degrees.
- It is / isn’t raining at the moment. The sky is cloudy / overcast.
- There is strong wind / light breeze.
- Yesterday it was a bit colder / warmer. It was / wasn’t raining in the morning but there was
/wasn’t sunshine in the afternoon. The temperature was about ... degrees.
10. Why is it useful to watch the weather forecast?
- If you watch the weather forecast You will know what kind of clothes to put on or whether to
take an umbrella with you or no.
