Network Lab

This lab session is merged session between Online meeting and Physical material.

Objectives

Students will know to differentiate between straight and cross over cables
Students will know the difference between Router, Switch and Access Point
Students will be able to configure a Switch and Access Point
Students will create a small network based on a Switch and Access Point

Requirements for the Student to have


Zoom Installed on PCs
Students must join the session from their PCs

Procedure
Students will join the meeting, the meeting will start with the theoretical part about cables,
Router, Switch and Access Point. They will be able to see the difference between them and how
they look in real life as a camera will be opened in the Physical to broadcast the session.
The second part is the Technical part where the lab assistant will connect he devices manually
and the students will create the configuration online.
Students will be divided into breakout rooms where each team will configure either a Switch or
an Access Point. The lab assistant will allow remote access to the PCs so the students will be
able to do the experiment. They will share their experience at the end.
The final experiment will be to monitor the network by connecting different devices such as PC
and phones.

Physical Requirements
The physical requirements are:
- 2 Desktops to connect the Devices
- 1 Cisco Switch
- 1 Access point
- Network Cables
