Bee 3 Phase

Module 3 covers power measurement in three-phase circuits, including numerical problems related to calculating line and phase currents, active, reactive, and apparent power. It provides example problems with solutions, such as calculating power readings from wattmeters in balanced circuits. The document includes specific scenarios for power factor calculations based on wattmeter readings.

Module 3
Power Measurement
Numericals
1. Three identical coils each having a reactance of 20 Ohms and resistance 10 Ohms are connected in star
across a 440V three phase line. Calculate :
a. Line Current and Phase Current
b. Active, reactive and apparent power
c. Reading of each wattmeter connected to measure power

Ans: Iph = 11.36A, Q = 7.7436KVAR, S = 8.658 KVA, W1 = 4.1717 KW, W2 = -0.299 KW
1. Two wattmeters connected to measure the input to balanced three phase circuit indicates 1250W and
20 W, respectively. Find the total power supplied, and the power factor of the circuit.
(i) When both readings are positive and
(ii) When the latter reading is obtained after reversing the connections to the pressure coil.
