Lesson Focus: Differentiating Qualitative Method from Quantitative Method

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:

a.) Understand quantitative research and qualitative research;


b.) Appreciate the differences between quantitative research and qualitative research; and
c.) Compare and contrast about the difference and similarities of quantitative research and
qualitative research

English 10 Quarter 4 – Module 1: Distinguish Technical Terms Used in Research

A. Activity

“Assemble Me”

Direction: Assemble the unassembled words to reveal the hint of our topic for today.

B. Analysis

 After doing the activity the teacher will ask the students a few questions.
1. What can you say about the words you unassembled?
2. Can you give an idea/thoughts about these words?
3. Are these words related on our topic?
4. How sure are you that these words are related on our topic?
C. Abstraction
 The teacher will start the discussion. The teacher’s discussion revolves Quantitative and
Qualitative Research.

 In a group, the teacher will ask the students to make a Venn diagram for them to compare
and contrast the differences and similarities of Quantitative and Qualitative Research.
